Interesting point to ponder over. Are we that bad or Liverpool too good?We will find out about Liverpool in a week or two.As for us,we'd better try and finish in the top 15....which means forget about the PL/Champions/Europa places. Seems to me to blood the youngsters this season in the PL because they will be trying, NOT popping into the bank every five minutes worrying more about their savings accounts than playing for their team! Surely their are some good players who want to play with their hearts in the lower leagues to replace these prima donnas? Do you realize where we would be if we hadn't had a lot of luck against the lower teams in the PL? ....and the Spurs 0 West Ham 3 wasn't really a shock now,was it? I feel sorry for all those Spurs fans who travel the world watching their team at great expense to be so humiliated. Harry must be pissing himself laughing....and Mr Levy must be at home sticking pins into a figure of......
Yes all we do is play a high line. If that doesn't work then we still play a high line. There doesn't seem to be a plan B and him changing the team by 5+ players every week doesn't help. If he's still manager by next PL game, he'll have made 5+ changes against West Ham on Wednesday and then he'll revert back to a similar team to today for the PL - we've had so little consistency - it's obvious to see why the team haven't gelled under his management.
Been there done it and wore the t-shirt and won trophies, you're scraping the barrel using that as an excuse, in the seasons that Spurs never qualified for Europe were they league champions?
That is true, but them Avb is more worried about his points total in Europe then using the squad wisely. If we had a small squad I would say that's a big factor but we have a fairly deep squad and AVB if he wanted could have rested players and still progressed.
"Are we that bad or Liverpool too good?" They're ok. But that is good enough to beat Spurs most weeks in the PL. "Seems to me to blood the youngsters this season in the PL" Which Spurs manager will be doing that then ??
I need a few beers and a spliff to help me forget today. ****ing atrocious. Liverpool deserve a huge amount of credit don't get me wrong, they were superb but **** me, Spurs just seem to hit new depths under AVB. I think it's fair to say that was likely his final game in charge of us, I'd be very surprised if come Monday morning, he wakes up as Tottenham Head Coach. Only two players "tried" and done "ok" for me today and they were Chadli and Holtby. Chadli made some neat passes and seemed the only player in periods trying to create something, for a guy who's got a lot of stick I think he was a somewhat shining light (albeit a dim shine). Holtby came on and ran his socks off, to pretty much no avail but at least he seemed to give a damn. What pissed me off even further is after the final whistle, only Holtby had the decency to applaud and acknowledge the fans, THAT really ****ed me off, win, lose or draw the players should always acknowledge their fans and so to just walk off like little kids in a Sunday League match was a disgrace.
Chadli did show some neat touches and tricks but ****ing hell his crossing is ****! He's been elevated from crap to fairly crap
Liverpool are benefiting from playing as a team and playing football with a purpose... We have a squad that should cope with 2 matches a week...on top of that he could have played reserves on thursday as we had already won the group.
Sorry if I wasn't clear as to why I made this point-definitely not as an excuse. Of course teams can play two games a week and succeed. However it does affect our performance with so many new players who don't get a chance to train with each other.
1.Well done to Liverpool, very well played. I noticed they had upped their game towards the end of last season. 2.Moss the referee was disgracefull the worst ref I have seen this season. Referees that bad ruin football games, he was lucky that it made little real difference to the result in this game, but does not excuse it. 3. If you get paid millions of pounds to manage a top football team then you need to perform a whole lot better than this. I can't see a future for AVB at Spurs after this and the turgid football we have watched this season. I'm sure he could improve things tomorrow by putting down his clip board and just picking a balanced side and simply tell them to go out and express themselves. 4. You need to go and work in Spain or Portugal where like you the players only know one way to play.
Haha at least you've acknowledged his improvement. Come the end of the season you'll be sporting "Chadli 21" on the back of your shirt mate Yeah crossing was poor but at least he gave it a go, which is more than I can say for the rest of the team today.
I liked the move he done by faking a turn and then got in a good position to drive a cross through and then he at least attacked the ball at the corner. But then he starts putting in wild crosses, tricks on the half way line. Have a word with him SOS!
Yeah hopefully he's finding his feet and getting more confident to do the tricks and skills he done at Twente which helped convince us he was a "Tottenham player" and worthy of his price tag. Just needs to be more of a goal threat (and work on the crosses like you say), Cove in fairness did say he was a slow starter and it looks like he was right, I do think that down the line Chadli can become a really good player.
Perhaps our new manager will say "ok.We've got some young talent coming up,time to blood 'em in the PL". Perhaps he wont!!!!! Maybe we can get Harry to lend us young Barton to put himself about in our practice/training games to wake our players up.....and show them what desire is all about!
What worries me is that a lot of blame is being put on the tactics, but I worry that this squad isn't actually that good. Sure the purchases are the managers fault, as are the tactics, but now we are left with a bunch, many of whom cant seem to pass the ball. It is good that we made no net spend, but I imagine salaries are much higher now, if we fail to do well this year, we could struggle to pay salaries and a Leeds situation could occur. I think Europa should have been a blessing given the amount of new players we needed to bed in, but has been wasted by fielding the prem defenders. Any new manager now would only have prem games to work out who is good and then leave a lot of other players getting grumpy. Quite a tricky situation..
Oh dear, when will our fans learn! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/spurs-fans-hit-out-avb-2931366 One unfortunate Twitter user got more than she bargained for on Sunday evening, as hordes of angry Tottenham fans decided to tweet her abuse. A number of Spurs fans mistakenly decided to hurl insults at @AVB, believing it to be the account of current manager Andre Villas-Boas. However, the account is nothing to do with the man who oversaw their 5-0 demolition by Liverpool, but rather a New Yorker who deals "in dreamers and telephone screamers". Fortunately, she took it all with outstanding grace and responded with some brilliant replies, using theatre lyrics as her weapon against the verbals coming her way. Of course, being a family site, we can't show some of the worse tweets that went her way, but here's a look at some of her best responses:
