Flanagan

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Super G Ted'inho, Dec 15, 2013.

  1. I don't say this lightly, but...

Am I alone in enjoying Jon scoring more than us winning?

Now don't get me wrong, I love it when we win never mind winning emphatically away from home against a rival whilst having injury problems, but the joy on the local boys face followed by the whole team celebrating with him was priceless.

That lad just lived his dream!!!

Anyone else see how genuinely happy Suarez was when Flanno scored? Biggest smile I'd seen on his face, delighted for the lad.

Fair play to him for keeping on working hard despite being out the picture for 2 years. Back in the team because of injuries and he's grabbed that opportunity by a country mile! Enricky and Cissokho have no chance of getting in the team at this rate.

It was a great moment and the whole team seemed to know what it meant to him.

It was great. The fact that it was set up by a backheeled nutmeg was a nice touch too.

    Made up for the lad..

After that Blackburn game a year or two back it looked as if Flanagan would never make it. But he's got his head down and got on with things, he then got thrown in the deep end twice against both Arsenal and Everton away, not only that but as a wing back and a left back! And has since been one of our best players.. He plays for the shirt and that's what I love, and what a finish for his goal, was made up for him and Henderson today.. Any player trying to make it in the game should look to them both as examples.

    Fair play to him!

Important we still have locals about the place.

When he came in he looked very good then had a couple of very dodgy moments and never seem to recover and push on from that.

However one thing from "Being Liverpool" that sticks in my mind was BR taking him to one side and praising his attitude something which he's continued to do since he's got into the team.

I'm not convinced he'll be the long term full back for us, but every team needs some local players and I think you'll get that extra 10% from him when he plays for us than you would if he played for any other team.

Safe to say that ignoring the Arsenal game where it was his first full game, everyone played **** and he played wing back, since he's gone to a more traditional full back role he's looked very good, even on the left side which isn't his natural side!

One thing we all hate and bemoan is players who we know don't really give a ****, players who earn a ridiculous amount and yet never earn it, players who don't appreciate the opportunity life has given them. Well none of that's true about Flannel and it shows.

Will he be a permanent solution at left back??? I think most of us doubt it and yet how can you drop a kid playing so well right now? Well you can't and you shouldn't. What a total bonus if (and of course it's still a big if) we have JF and Enricky fighting for a place over the coming seasons.

Proper happy for the lad. Partly because he's local of course but it's more than that. It's because he genuinely does care and he is obviously willing to bust his bollocks for his chance, no moaning, no tantrums, just hard work and enthusiasm <ok> Not only does it mean a little extra to us fans but it simply has to inspire some of the youth players to know they can earn their chance by doing the right things.

Credit to Brenda too for having the balls to play him and stick with him <applause>

    Couldn't agree more.

I wish he had a little more belief at the end as well when Moses crossed that one in low, if he had gambled on it making it across he had a tap in from 2 yards out but just hesitated a little. Imagine not only getting your first but adding the 2nd on top of that in the same game! Doubt he would have slept for days!

  12. Doubt he will anyway. Only two ways it could have been better:
    - Hat trick; or
    - At Anfield

Probably not, although he seems very grounded so then again maybe he will forget about it and concentrate on the next game <ok>

And could have been against Everton or United, would have been better <ok>

  14. Grounded or not, he won't forget that in a hurry. I think Rio recently said that the buzz from playing preventing him sleeping the following night and he was seasoned professional that had seen it all.

Good shout on the rivals <ok>

Watching him celebrate that goal again on MOTD2 is amazing. He didn't know what to do and then Suarez looked more happy than when he scored both of his goals today.

What I love is the way Suarez seems to enjoy others scoring just as much if not more than scoring himself!

It really goes to show that you cannot see alot from U18s and u21s football. Flanno has been ever present in the academy sides over the years, but has never been a stand out performer. has never been spoken about as the likes of Dani pacheco were. But here he is perorming well in big matches, doing what is expected and more. Have rarely been happier to see a player score.

I hope he can move up and on from this and become a key 'local' in the squad for may years to come

  18. Maybe that's a good thing? The likes of Pacheco, Suso and Sterling have been the starlets of a squad, the big performers, the "look up to's". In the first team, they are just another player. Big fish in a small pond type of thing.

probably not alone at all. IT was certainly the icing on the cake!

I hope he really enjoys this session in the team.
