I am impressed when ever I seen him before. When he came on yesterday with Reid on the opposite side I saw 2 players transform a game. Both of them played with freedom. As Cotterell says once the players break away from their shackles, I think we will see this high tempo game that he's promised us. I was even impressed with Wagstaff at RB, him and Burns looked a handful to them on the right side. I know it's only one game, but considering some based our doom on SC on this one game then I can at least be positive can't I If we have more to come through like Wes, Joe and Reid then IMO we can see a future.
The future is Burns, Bryan, Wynter, Kelly, Cunningham. We still need to get a spine for the team though, and a dynamic and influential captain to make us tick. In other words, we are half a team short of a full side
Cunningham had another poor game yesterday and is out of form - however, yes still one for the future
Even though out of form still got on the end of two or three good chances. With a bit more care could have scored!
And while Parrish is being doubted, he pulled off two magnificent saves in first fifteen minutes. Firstly stopping a real piledriver, that did sadly lead to first goal, and then a very well placed shot that was going in his top right corner. Add him to the list above as he will be alright when we get rid of the dross older players that are past it. Elliott, Shorey, Gillet for starters!
Reid, Bryan, Burns, Kelly, Williams.. good spine there.. Build around those players and we might get somewhere.
I think there is a reason that when u look at most clubs their legends / best players in recent years are usually players who have come through their academies as I think it means more to them being not just players but also supporters that they will always give a little extra as to some players they don't care as long as they get paid. I'm pleased with the look of our current u21 and u18 look and hopefully the seasons to come they will be given their chance
On yesterday's showing - Cotterill's clueless. Completely the wrong set up - the same set up we've endured since August. And he picked our best player out of position. The substitutions were totally ineffective and I'll bet he sticks with Shorey - Idiot. It was only non-league last week but his set up made sense and I had hope. A striker to help Baldock, Elliot to stay in his own half and JET in his most effective position. This week FFS why change unless you're going to improve. Don't anyone tell me 'but the manager is having to experiment to find a solution'. I heard the same Tripe when SOD kept picking Kilkenny. For Kilkenny read - Gillett. For yesterday's set up read - SOD's set up. Cotterill chose not to review earlier dvds perhaps if he did he wouldn't need 'to experiment to find a solution'. What did the fool do instead - listen to Pembo, part of the old boys act - we're doomed. Went to the game yesterday feeling very hopeful. Listened en route to SL's interview, that started the rot. 90 minutes of Cotterill finished it. PS The trouble with our Board - they are totally bamboozled by pro's bull****. Daft as a brush the lot of them.
"Cotterill chose not to review earlier dvds perhaps if he did he wouldn't need 'to experiment to find a solution'" Cannot disagree with this Redprintt, you are missing my point slightly, which was that our changing of managers every 5 minutes makes these fresh starts inevitable, (everybody starts afresh, and the squads unbalanced) I wish I had a £1 for everytime I've heard that quote recently.
Thought I would bring this one back up. Listening to SC's interview yesterday on radio Bristol he said he don't the pressure on Burns to start a game. Then Burns came on later and virtually agreed that he shouldn't start just yet. I think we've got a real gem on our hands with Burns, do you agree that it's too early to start? Or would you want to let him develop slowly and use him more when we are in a better position?
Well my drum has a hole in it the amount I been drumming on about him and doubted by shiny st least you saw his quality rod maybe whilst scrapping at the bottom his pace is good whrn defences are quiet
And he's Welsh so I'm doubly excited about his prospects Nope what I've seen of him has impressed me, reminds me of Albert with the ability and speed he has, he makes the games exciting.
I've said forever that (on a good day) Wagstaffe is a busy play but contributes FA. Burns last few appearances shows what the word contribute means. Burns made a fantastic contribution yesterday. Would I start Burns - Yes. An old saying - 'If you're good enough - you're old enough'. I genuinely think Burns is good enough.
I agree but listening to Cotts last night he says that he don't want to rush him and put too much pressure on him. Wes actually agreed with him in his interview after. I just think it's the position we are in at the moment, plus he's a massive bonus to be able to chuck on when defences are tiring.
With a name like Burns, he is a headline in waiting When SC looks at Burns, Bryan, etc he must wonder what the hell these ex-managers have been playing at for the last few years With Kelly in our middle, sorting stuff out, we should have a tasty side next season, but we will need to sign a good striker to stand a chance of promotion-unless or course we already have one in reserve
