With the announcement of the stadium plans, I would have thought it very likely that we will will see activity in the transfer window despite Harry trying to play that down. Many of us have said that it is essential for TF's plans to be in the PL and now we know why. I don't believe this was some lucky co-incidence although TF may well be a lucky businessman. Given the necessity of getting to the PL (and staying there!!), I think we will see quality players in key areas joining in January. I am not going to speculate and I am not ITK. It just makes business sense. I know Queens has intimated the same on another thread and, with today's context and time scale, with David M writing that we may be there for the start of the 18/19 season, we see why he may well be right. An exciting day for QPR, an exciting January looms as does an exciting finale to the season. Looks like it will be a fun day at Barnsley in May. COYRsssssssssss!!
WHY NOT? I WANT IT NOW!!! All part of the long term plan, seen much clearer now and making it more imperative to be an established PL club.
Realistically, we are not going to be in the new place for 5 years, so any players we buy now will need to be looking a long way ahead if they are thinking of being in the new stadium...one step at a time RTID...next step...ensure that the first match in the new stadium is a Premier League fixture...
I don't think we'll be doing too much business this winter. Maybe a couple in and a couple out. Cesar out for sure. Maybe a striker and a versatile defender. I don't think they will gamble on buying a premier league team without the guarantee that we'll get there. That's just my view.
The new stadium doesn't come into the equation yet. For financial reasons and our development, we need to go up (full stop). Another quality goal-scorer would be absolutely essential if AJ or Charlie were to get injured. Besides, there is no reason why we shouldn't try to be better as long as the right players are brought in.
Love to see what players us fans think would make the starting line up in 5 years and what would be the first match against ?
I would like to see at least 4 homegrown players in the line up, and be playing the previous year's runners up as we start our defence of the Premier League title.
Assuming you get promoted this season, which I'd say very likely, how many of your current squad do you think Harry would feel are good enough for next year?
Assuming we think Harold is good enough for another year? Green, Simpson, BAE (if we can sign him), Phillips (spent a lot on him, needs to deliver though), Barton (much to my annoyance), Carroll (if we can sign him), Austin, Onouha. Faurlin if he can regain his fitness after second ACL. Jury out on Hoilett, really needs to be consistent. Likewise Krancjar, if we get him from loan. Benayoun we have yet to see play. Remy if we can get him back. Taarabt, if he gets with the programme and comes back. Hill and Dunne if their bodies hold out/ as squad players. Perhaps O'Neill in this category too. I still think Granero is a very good player, but long term injured and loaned out, don't think H likes him. Unknown - Suk Yun, Korean lad on loan at Doncaster. Surplus - Traore, SWP, Jenas, Henry, AJ, Zamora, bloody Luke Young, Cesar (he won't be played no matter how good he is). Hope a few contracts are up as these are all bastards to sell. Sorry, you didn't ask for this level of breakdown but I got thinking. In short we will be in te market big time next summer, hopefully with a bit more intelligence than the last couple of years.
you can bet on one thing, there will be a tarrabt post on here, it will be titled, tarrabt the last word(again)
If we are talking a January move whilst thinking long term, I feel we need to go in for Jordan Rhodes. He ticks the boxes for me...
Yes please. the talk of the stadium may draw him back anyway ( I Wish!) 5 years eh...maybe some here will get there wish & adel will have matured and become our captain...? just realised those last 2 sentences are total boll**ks...sorry!
