Not really a surprise but I just think it's a shame he won't get the chance to better his record... or at least divert some of the attention away from 'those' eight games.

    Should he reconsider?

Not sure. I think he's missed the boat a bit by being out of the game for so long.

I personally don't think he's tarnished by those eight games. We had **** players that didn't want to be here, we were already down. Even Fergie wouldn't have been able to save us IMO.

He was never 'in' football management IMHO.
He had an 8 game temporary tenure, that's all.
I think he had too high expectations and should have done what Clarkie has done and worked his way up, bit by bit.

He'll have learned something from his first stint and will be better prepared for what's ahead of him this time.

I reckon you could get some pretty tasty odds on Shearer being the next Newcastle United Manager!

    This。

Look at AVB for example, I know he isn't doing too well, but his first stint at Chelsea was a mare.

Shearer must've learnt something too, and it was almost an impossible task at us, when your squad includes the likes of Alan Smith, Cacapa, Geremi....trying to stay alive.. man!

Great player. If your heart is not in management though then there is little point. It consumes your life by all accounts. That won't be for everyone.

I think he would have a lot to offer but I'm not sure he has the personality for man management. He was always a "my way or the highway" type character as a captain. You have to have a different approach nowadays. I think all his charity work abroad etc, and all the stuff he does with media is good enough for him. Fair enough.
