http://www.thefa.com//news/governance/2013/dec/fa-council-to-rule-on-name-change The FA can confirm that it has received a request from Hull City to change its playing name to Hull Tigers from season 2014/15. Requests to change a playing name of a club are considered under FA Rule A3 (l) and require the prior written permission of the FA Council. As part of the evaluation of the request a consultation process will be undertaken with various stakeholders including supporter groups. At present The FA is not able to provide a timescale for the completion of the consultation process and does not expect to make any further comment until the assessment of the request has been completed. Well done FA.
Sounds good - be interesting to know who the other 'various stakeholders' would be. Sponsors presumably? who else?
Should I expect a call from them? or are they only going to talk to CTWD as they precisely represent 200,000 city fans.
Considering I live in London, no I don't know. Just love being told that CTWD will represent fans' opinions when really they'll represent its members opinions.
Good on them. I reckon the 'wider stakeholders' will be the media - especially its broadcast partners both here and abroad, sponsors, fans (ours and other clubs) probably external marketing people too to see what impact, if any one club changing its name with have on the brand image of the Premier League as a whole, The Premier League and Football League will be spoken to as well as the other clubs I would imagine. I'm sure anyone who gets in touch with The FA will have their opinion considered, but organised fans group will probably be approached directly because they represent a wider range of people.
Please tell me you didn't actually think I was being serious when I asked whether the FA would enquire with me and every single fan personally. Just pointing out that talking to supporters groups is irrelevant as they do not and will never represent majority fans. CTWD have yet to prove they do. "thousands sing in protest every saturday" is not a measurable number and the number of subscriptions is not even close to being a majority. Just saying lark. Just bullshit politics as always no matter which side you're on.
I don't think many of your posts are serious or have a point. You just seem intent on ****ing threads up, and I'm getting bored of you doing it.
There seem to be common traits in many of the pro name change brigade - exiles, out of touch, attention-seeking, contrary, shrill, illogical. Just saying like.
As the FA have only just announced this, there can only be speculation in how or when supporters will be canvased for their opinion. There are a number of issues that will have to be considered. Access to supporter information and duplication will be difficult to address. Just how many active fans belong to more than one group? An example could be this. Anti Name Change Season Card Holder Member of CTWD Member of HCOSC Member of HCSS Member of Tigers Co op Equals five votes Pro Name Change Season Card Holder I suspect there could be just a ballot boxes after the turnstiles at one match. One supporter one vote.
Does it really matter what someone else calls the club? I will always call them Hull City and cheer on the 'Tigers".
Maybe the fact you're not at the games hampers your ability to tell that the large majority of the stadium is singing pro CTWD songs. People don't subscribe to every organisation that shares their views. I, for instance, am not a member of any club that talks about how much they hate boring WUMs on the internet. That doesn't mean I don't share that opinion.
The FA's announcement is a good sign that they're taking the name change seriously. I can see them declining AA's application... Hopefully at that point everyone can put this behind them and move forwards - I'm just not sure that's how AA will respond...
