Bad for us really, they have a better transport infrastructure...could lead to the end of the SOL gigs

However i thought that the ground was owned by the council? and that NUFC purely had the naming rights?

Fair play to them, the more focus on the north east the better, i wouldnt think twice about going to the **** tip to see a band i liked, quite like kings of leon, but not enough to go

Only thing I see is that newcastle has the arena as well, so competing twice. But we have already show we have the experience to carry out these events and sell out.

Do they? Split a bag of shopping on a road in Newcastle city center and the trail back passes the Angel of The North. Total Gridlock.

They've already got an Arena anyway, Why would they want to compete with a top sponsored venue that's only 50 meters away?

Yeah, the concerts at the SOL were plagued by people complaining that they were stranded in Sunderland for days <doh>

Well the Airport is hardly a stone throw to either venue and The metro links nicely these days. It's hell of a lot quicker to get to the Stadium of Light then it is st James' by car. Traveling from the south anyway. If the Metro hadn't been opened in Sunderland I'd back your point but now it's what? 15-20 minutes longer to the stadium of light if you're traveling via central Station.

Lets see where they put the half dozen artics that they bring, let alone getting access into Sid James, this is were our modern stadium allowed a quick in and out so we had two or three major gigs a summer, they will not.

We also have room for a "tented village" in the car park to maximize(exploit perhaps) the punters.

I have seen several bands at SoL and KoL were the worst, disinterested, poor sound, not a sell out and no rapport wit the crowd, this is not sour grapes - just as I see it

    Apparently they are after Subo

They think she is an Argentinian defensive midfielder

They won't let us have a weekly market because Newcastle have one, so it is only fair if they are not allowed stadium gigs because we were in first..It won't happen though..

Rolling Stones Rod Steward Bob Dylan Queen and more all played at SJP. I dont see the problem in both you can only have so many concerts in each.

They will have a lot of difficulty with noise restrictions due to the stadium being in the centre of town. If the council get lots of complaints (hint hint), then they will not be able to grant them a license for live music in the future.

A lot of it comes down to relationships between the big concert promoters like Live Nation and AEG Live and the people running the stadium.

From a production point of view Sid James's is much more difficult than the SOL. They have probably not considered tour bus parking (20 bus's that all require 3 phase power). Truck parking and the list goes on.......

I have seen lots of disasters (Leeds arena) because someone somewhere has decided its a good idea to put concerts on but them have not consulted anyone who works full time doing concert productions.

The bottom line is if the band and production crew have a hard time they wont want to go back there.
