Disaster:Liverpool finished 4th United won the Champion League.

Well over the years when this has happened ( twice) it has been to the chegrin of the rival ( Everton finished fourth but we still got in, Chelsea got in then due to us making the rule to Spurs demise).

I haven't thought about it as united are yet to play a real European giant. I'll wait until united beat Barca, Madrid, Munich, AC Milan or even Basel before I consider this even a possibility

In short when some manc boasted this after they beat leverkusen (who gave up) that they would win it... will i had a right good laugh and am very confident that the minute a decent side meets utd they are in for it.

I think thats a little unfair on our team, although there's a little bit of luck in any game, We played v well in that campaign. We didn't have the best players or play the most beautiful football but we played each game like it was the final, pressing other better teams so hard that they couldn't settle for the whole 90mins, each player totally committed and fan's that never gave up hope driving the team on to victory when all seemed lost.

The question is can you see that being repeated under moyes at united?

Had Shakhtar took one their many chances (none of them could finish) they would have lost, why is everyone worried they are going to win it?

I was quite happy being completely unaware and ignorant of this possibility. Not just the ridiculous thought of United doing it. Biyw, Chelsea, City and Arsenal could all well end up in that situation. The season could change completely and it could happen judging by the closeness of this season.
