WTF? I'm quite a harsh Dad and my kids do get a smack if they are naughty (or did when they were younger) but this is a bit mental.
****ing yanks again isn't it!! The paradox is that the people who actively engage in this sort of thing are equally at home condemning Sharia Law, and to my mind, there is no difference
Never hit my kids, don't disagree with the odd smack on the bottom if they're being idiots, but I never did that. Simple method to get them to behave, points system, during the week, if they did their homework, were well behaved at school and home (didn't ask them to be Angels just don't be arseholes) and did their chores, they got 100% of their allowance, for every misdemeanour they got £1 taken off..
The boy tested me a couple of times and ended up going penniless for a few weeks, he soon cottoned on that I wasn't joking. The girl, well she is daddies girl, I may have overlooked some of misdemeanour's on the odd occasion
Yeah that happens with me, the boys get more crap off me than my daughter but the wife tends to be harder with her.
I have two boys (for now) and that split still happens with me and the mrs. Problem is, our two are naughty in the opposite ways; eldest is clever and uses his mind to annoy the other, the youngest is a brute and just kicks the **** out of his brother for it
Tell me about it... When ever I tell the boy off, the wife does likewise to the girl, if even she's don't nothing wrong.. #wayoftheworld
I always used to get the blame for EVERYTHING when I was growing up - my sister got away with all sorts of stuff knowing full well I'd be the one punished. There's only a small bit of resentment left. She's 50 now
Don't let RHC see this or you'll be the one getting a smacked bottom I fear I'm the same...younger brother who got away with loads more I still got plenty of clips round the ear though. I've never been one who advocates the banning of smacking altogether as I think parents have the right to exercise a certain amount of discipline (as long as it's within reason and done as a last resort etc) but this piece of the article made me feel ill never mind uneasy: The "training" is meant to start early and pre-empt the need for punishment. But if the child is already rebellious, parents are told to "use whatever force is necessary to bring him to bay". "If you have to sit on him to spank him then do not hesitate. And hold him there until he is surrendered... Defeat him totally." I can't imagine what parent (other than an extremely bad one) would ever think to themselves "I need to defeat my child totally"
This is the bit I find extremely unacceptable "The "training" is meant to start early and pre-empt the need for punishment." So they advocate punishment with no crime - on BABIES???
