I had assumed it was going to be lower league and fringe players involved in this last round of match-fixing. This fairly 'high profile' name being involved asks many more questions! :emoticon-0112-wonde

Bad state of affairs all this, the thing is i can't see how they can stop it happening!

I saw some Scottish FIFA bloke talking about if you bet on football matches it has to be stretched over say at least 3 games, thus making the likelihood of it happening less. Possible i suppose.

It's also the fault of the bookies.

You can bet on ANYTHING these days so it is far more open to abuse, and also with online betting it is harder to trace.

You would have thought that Campbell and the like would have earned enough money by bleeding their respective clubs dry without the need to bring the game into disrepute to bring in a few more quid for the household budget. I am very disappointed that we have been brought down to this level.

Might explain why redmond gets into great positions and is then so wasteful!! Just kidding, but it is a little tricky to comprehend quite how bad his shooting and crossing is, especially as he has time-

The only player allowed to do that to binners was the Grolt.

Seriously though, if found to be true, this does our beautiful game no favours at all.

Maybe a points deduction would force some of these clubs to clean their employees acts up?

You'd have thought that the (fairly) high profile jail sentence handed out to former Essex cricketer Mervyn Westfield for agreeing to concede a certain number of runs per over would have echoed around the sporting world to say "it just ain't worth the risk"

Unless, of course, the stakes have been raised significantly and it IS now worth the risk <yikes> <doh>

That's a ridiculous suggestion, you can't penalise an employer for things their staff do in their own time.

I think this thread is sailing a little close to the wind!

Innocent until proven guilty and all that... <ok>

Great !! The FA had every chance to investigate claims at lower league level last season - and chose to sweep, FIFA style, things under the carpet, in the hope that it would die down again <doh>
What the **** is the point of appointing an F.A if it is so utterly powerless/useless?
