Let's say that Man U. offers 15 million for Lallana and Saints also find a buyer for Ramirez at 7 million. Saints sell both, use the cash to buy Ever Banega, and that opens up a backup slot possibly for Harrison Reed or Omar Rowe who Saints feel are ready to get a taste of first team action. That is the benefit of having an academy and being a "big club." You don't have to be afraid to move talent, because there is always more coming through the pipeline.
