Actually watched my team today on live stream ITV and was nice to see a good win but let's be honest they won't set any fires alight with performances like that. I wanted to see them blow Tamworth away but it was always going to be a difficult game to master and they seemed to want it badly but missed a golden opportunity that could have seen the score go the other way. Nice to get a run going in the cup and let's hope for a top team at Ashton Gate in the draw in about 10 minutes. My overall impression, without too much criticism, is that it was like a time warp and the mystical fumbling Bristol City of previous years reappeared and all the failings in many areas of the team don't seem to have been fixed. Steve Cotterill has a lot of work on his hands to get this lot playing to their full potential and it was good for him to start with a difficult win and let's all hope we can improve our lot in the league. Well done lads but now the hard work starts and you had better be up to the task and you all know you can do it.
I thought it was a decent professional performance - if we took our chances we would have been out of sight
Spot on smhbcfc and to improve we need to cash in on the chances created and today the miss by Wagstaff was an example of that problem but there were others as well. Our passing out of defence and across the back in general lacks accuracy and we get caught in possession too much for my liking. However I'm sure SC can see the areas that need to improve and in a couple of weeks the performances should get better and a move up the league and a cup win in the next round will get the blood pumping around BS3.
Who the hell was that doing the post match interview laughing and joking? Hang on a minute it was our manager - he lives he breathes, what a difference a week makes.
'if we took our chances we would have been out of sight' Spot on. Looked comfortable till SC took Taylor off thus negating JET's involvement in the game. Don't rate Harewood, but if he had to take a front runner off he should have done like for like. Playing Jet further forward made us look exactly how SOD had us playing - ineffective. That was the one minus today for SC today.
Glad you were able to watch the game live on ITV Online, Invermeremike, I'll have to remember that for the future, just in case.
If any games are being shown live on ITV back in England you can watch them on a site named filmon and they will be shown over here on ITV+1. This means that it is delayed 1 hour from the live broadcast - hope that helps.
I watched the whole thing on TVCatchup, where I watch a lot of my TV. The pitch had a huge ****ing slope on it! You could put the ball on the half-way line and a small gust of wind would probably take it into the goal net if you left the ball alone. Playing JET in midfield was a master stroke. It's the perfect spot for us to build the team around him, and it'll allow the club to individually address the problem areas of the squad. JET was capable of making runs, holding play up, and making the necessary passes from the middle of the park. He hit some absolute beauties, and even the commentators (who were used to watching continental football) seemed impressed with his ability. JET even said at the end that he enjoyed playing back there, so for once I'm actually looking forward to the next league match.
Nice to finally hear some positives coming from the supporters and maybe the times they are a changing.
JET is by far the best player on the books at present, hopefully SC should do everything in his power to keep this guy at the gate, build a team capable of a return to the championship next season around him. He is special build the team around him and see where it takes us,i would say JET knows he is wanted here,is playing some of his best football for a long long time. No player is bigger than the club, but this kid is special
Due to Christmas shopping overrun, missed 1st half but as far as the 2nd was concerned, the above comment is bang on. We made enough chances in the 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd half alone to score 3 or 4. Though it was a neat and tidy performance which obviously surprised the commentators who had clearly been briefed to expect a hoofball session whereas exactly the opposite was the case with the ball being played mainly on the deck. It would seem that SoD's principles will remain in place just hopefully, better executed...
I thought it was an average performance, I don't think we could expect much given he only had 1 training session with them, but there was about 90 seconds in the first 5 minutes where the ball never touched the grass. I bet SOD is fuming to watch the team he has been teaching the last 10 months to play football on the floor, to watch them lumping it to the corners for 75% of the game! As for Taylor, all he has done is open the door to someone like Harewood. He needed to take that chance with both hands, and he looked very shoddy in my view. He is just one of these players with zero ability when it comes to anticipation or reading the game well enough to know where to be at the right time the ball is being delivered into the box. Very unimpressed. However, I was impressed with SC's passion and ability to handle the media the way he has done. I know it shouldn't matter, but it does to me, as it gives me the belief that if he convey to us the fans, and the media what he is trying to do, it means he can imprint his vision and strategy to many of our players.
