Five conclusions about QPR after Blackburn stalemate written by Sue Denim Profile Pic written by Sue Denim 11 hours ago Rangers frustrated at home, where did it go wrong for Harry Redknapp's side? QPR need to start home matches at a higher tempo SEE ALSO: 5 chances to WIN : 1 FIFA 14 or Football Manager 2014 game of your choice It is often said that if you start games slowly it is difficult to up your game, and so it proved for Rangers against Blackburn. QPR were untidy and careless in the first half, and although they improved as the game wore on, it took them far too long to impose themselves on the contest. The Hoops need to start home games at a higher tempo and not allow visiting teams to get a foot-hold. Tom Carroll struggles playing in a 4-4-2 system Carroll had a difficult game against Blackburn, putting in arguably his worst performance since joining on loan from Spurs. Playing in a five-man midfield, with Carroll as one of a central three, takes the pressure off the youngster when he is in possession. Saturdayâs display suggested that Carroll may struggle playing alongside one other in central midfield, and he was lucky that Joey Barton put in such a good performance. Redknappâs double substitution did not pay off Redknapp took off his two most dangerous attacking players, Matt Phillips and Junior Hoilett, just before the hour mark. The wingers had been QPRâs two most threatening players, but were replaced by Niko Kranjcar and Gary OâNeil as Redknapp opted to play narrower through the middle in a bid to pick apart the Rovers defence. It never really worked and the afternoon ended in frustration for the home side. Itâs only getting harder â and QPR need to improve It is all very well winning home games against Bournemouth and Charlton, but QPR will need to improve significantly for some tough tests to come. Next weekendâs trip to Blackpool is followed by a home game against fellow promotion-chasers Leicester, before away games at NottinghamForest and Watford. Those matches will provide a stern test of QPRâs promotion credentials, and sloppy performances like the one on Saturday will surely be punished. Pressure on Benayoun Assistant manager Kevin Bond said after the game that QPR had completed the signing of midfielder Yossi Benayoun, and the former Chelsea man will almost certainly be thrust straight into action as Redknapp looks for extra creativity. Rangers fans will be hoping that the 33-year-old has something to offer, and that QPR are not simply five years too late to his signature⦠What did you make of QPR's draw with Blackburn?
I thought that Carroll had one of his better games for us on Saturday, his passing wasn't as sloppy and he looked like he was up for most challenges
I forgotten (or never knew) who Sue Denim is, but do wonder if she actually goes to the matches. I agree with HD above, Carroll had a good match, passed well, tackled well and always made himself available for the ball. As for the substitutions, we were definitely better after they were made; whether that was because of them or because Redknapp finally allowing the team to commit to attack I wouldn't like to say.
The only bit I agree with, Itâs only getting harder â and QPR need to improve It is all very well winning home games against Bournemouth and Charlton, but QPR will need to improve significantly for some tough tests to come. Sue Denim sounds a bit like a porn star alias
That is a shocking write up. Tom Carroll had a decent game and was Junior Hoilett really one of our most dangerous players????
Have to question the credentials of some one who has to write under a pseudonym (Sue Denim) but he / she is correct about the tougher test over the Christmas break. It's not so much that we were sloppy but, as Harry himself said, Blackburn actually did not deserve to lose. I think he / she has misinterpreted two teams that cancelled each other out as sloppy. Having said that Matt Phillips' miss at the end was inexcusable in my book. He had the whole of the left hand side of the goal to himself and chose to punt in straight down the middle into the face of the diving keeper. I know it all happens very quickly and I know I could not do it etc but that is why they are paid the big bucks!
The problem was that we were not getting enough balls in the box or for that matter players, On Tuesday we were getting bodies forward into the box Saturday we didn't, Simpson was taking first time crosses Saturday he didn't to that and choose to keep passing backwards. BAE was a little better on the other side but had to beat his man twice before crossing and Hoilett just can't cross or do much at the moment and is fast becoming the new SWP.
I do hope sue denim is not a girl...I am so aware that if I write twaddle you will label all girls the same...as stupid on a footy front. Imho she just writes complete twaddle and does not go to the matches. Her in-depth analysis is based entirely on..carroll missed passes, Austen missed a sitter and it won't get easier...please do not label all the fairer sex by her Her lack of understanding of our team and its dynamics do not make it easier for the rest of us girlies But I suspect s he is a man....who calls their kid sue denim!!!
Could be a boy named Sue Be careful what you say as he apparently shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die....
Assistant manager Kevin Bond said after the game that QPR had completed the signing of midfielder Yossi Benayoun. Is this true?
