Gibbs because we we rely on the fullbacks to provide the width in our attacks and he does that better
Both very good defenders, Nacho slightly edging it defensively but Gibbs gives the better attacking impetus and due to our lack of pace and width on his side that is crucial.
Thought Gibbs was a bit 'iffy' in the 2nd half, I don't know what he was doing for that header which led to Shezny making that incredible save.
I think Nacho is as good attacking wise, something Gibbs needs to work on is his delivery when he's in the box, he gets into good positions many times, but his final ball is often lacking.
Both able players but I prefer Nacho to be honest. Better defensively and gets in good positions in attacking play.
Gibbs just because it is nice to see an English replacement for Cole. But neither players have his winning mentality
Gibbs is a better all round player, but Nacho is an adequate back up. What's really good though is that we can use them both on the left when we need to shut the door
Both are class acts, but I picked Gibbs purely because has that extra speed in his game and has been utterly brilliant this season.
Gibbs. We're winning and our defence looks excellent. Don't you lot go and change a winning formula dammit!
Monreal made a strong case for a place in the team against Everton with his performance last night. He was sensational, and the competition for places in our current team is fierce. Should keep everyone on their toes.
Monreal is a very tidy player, defensively solid, does things simply nd has good close control. Great player to have in the squad, i'm happy with either LB.
It's a very tough call really. Do we feel Monreal is more solid defensively, but Gibbs better going forward? If so, Monreal away & Gibbs at home?
To give another slant to this, most people are just giving it to an English player who cant get in the England squad against a Spanish international who plays sometimes. I personally think Gibbs should get more England games but its great for Arsenal and great for England that this is the quality both have.
They both have different styles and are both doing very well at the moment but I'm going for Gibbs. One thing about Monreal is that when we're in a fast counter attacking situation, Monreal seems to slow things down too much. When someone plays a decent through ball to him, he runs a few yards forward, stops, turns around and passes back. Defensively he's good but for me, his attacking abilities are too limited. Whereas, Gibbs has improved so much defensively and also can run up and down the pitch without breaking a sweat. I'd put Monreal on when we're playing to hold onto a lead, otherwise, it's all about Gibbs for me.
Well today has shown that i was right to back Nacho, and the other 4 who voted for him can feel proud of themselves.
