I just set it up to record (praise the lord for the invention of Sky+) as I am away for a long weekend in Prague. Never been before but its supposed to be a nice place?
I've been there, on a stag do, about 2004ish It was great but you will find it cold there this time of the year.
Definitely not forgetting over here! I signed up with the Fox Soccer Channel about a month ago, as they carry some extra English Prem games and also the FA Cup, so I'll get to see the match live at 8am Chicago time. Will enjoy a rare full English breakfast fry-up whilst watching, including some (expensive) British style sausages and bacon that I managed to find in a British grocery in the Chicagoland area (any of you who have been over to the States will know what American bacon is like - ultra crispy strips of mostly fat! British (well, European style) bacon is one of my main food misses over here. Anyway, City live on TV plus full fry-up, and hopefully celebrate a win at the end with a couple of cans of (expensive) Blackthorn cider! Would sooner be there to watch, but hope to get back in a couple of months to visit family and get in a match at the Gate.
I'll be joining you in the ritual Windy - 9am start here on the east coast. I'll be watching in my shorts & t-shirt though whilst you battle the snow!
Thanks Tampa, don't remind me about the bloody snow! Winter in Chicago can be brutal, as I've discovered on many visits here, prior to my move here last year. I envy you down there in Tampa. Actually, we were down there almost exactly a year ago, staying at St Pete-on-the-beach. If we make it down there again, I'll let you know. In the meantime, enjoy the match on Sunday in your t-shirt & shorts (you git!) We'll have the heating on HIGH up here and I'll be wearing a City shirt for the game! Invermeremike - you getting the game up on the Canadian west coast?
Bristol City FC ‏@bcfctweets 17h A total of 754 away tickets have been sold for #BristolCity's visit to Tamworth. Sales have now finished; no pay on the day.
For some reason it is not on in Canada so I'll check ITV live stream to see if I can watch it. The match at Gateshead was originally scheduled to be shown today on TSN World (ex Setanta, so a very high priced PPV channel) and now it appears to have disappeared off the radar. Ah well!
What channel in the states are you guys watching it on? I am going to ring a few places in the morning to see if they are showing it, but don't fancy my chances, and the apartment I am staying in for 8 weeks in manhattan has only basic cable. As for Prague, one of the best Stag Do's I ever want on.... Got offered everything you could imagine, including an offer to look at midgets in a cage, they love midgets over there. I asked one guy if they had midgets in cages, he looked at me like I was mental and said "No, no midgets in cages! Midget in suitcase! You kick suitcase maximum 3 times, no bruising". I don't want to get your hopes up, but I never saw a single midget full stop, especially not in cages, or suitcases.
I'm sorry, I can't offer any information about midgets, where they can be found or ways of assulting them :-( However, we've got Direct TV here in Chicago and I paid extra to get the Fox Soccer Plus channel (FSP, ch 621) which screens several live & delayed transmission FA Cup games - Tamworth v City is live. I hope you can find somewhere in Manhatten that shows FSP, though you're more likely to find places opening early that broadcast Premier League games on NBC Sports. Good luck! They say you can find ANYTHING in New York... you'll find out in the morning if its true. Invermeremike - Sorry you don't have a network up there that's is shoing the game - hope you can find some sort of live stream.
Bodyslam - Just done a Google search, try this list - http://nyintl.net/story/where_to_watch_european_soccer_in_new_york_city Of that list, the Blind Pig - http://blindpigbar.com/home.html - might be worth the first call as the other page mentions that it shows all Direct TV packages. You could end up in a bar with serveral big screens, watching Tamworth v City on your own whilst loads of Gooners crowd around the other screens watching Arsenal! (Is their game early?) TheBlind Pig website doesn't list what games they'll show, sorry :-( Anyway, hope this helps mate, and again, good luck. Hope you can find the match somewhere.
Cheers Windy, will certainly give them a call, think I have been to that bar before last year, its down near the East Village and I am on 37th and 9th midtown near the Lincoln Tunnel, so would be a trek, but hey, well worth it, if they are showing the game! Might be the only time I see Bristol City win by more than 3 goals for a while! Much appreciated! Although like you I'd rather be down St Petersburg way.... Although on the bright side, two days in a row last week I got to see the same homeless guy take a dump in a cardboard box at my subway station whilst he shouted at commuters, so I can't complain too much!
It is on ESPN here in Oz at midnight, but as I do not subscribe to ESPN I will have to find a live streaming site, there should be plenty given it is ITV and not Sky showing the game. COYR Bet we get a sheeite away game at somewhere like Burnley if we win!!!!!
