http://www.people.co.uk/sport/footb...ich-midfield-star-leadbitter-102039-23195702/ Would people take £2m for ol' Leadboots?
I'd take £1.2mill for Leadbitter so £2 million i'd be jumping around the room I would love to see Gunnarsson off Coventry - not sure if he's agreed a new deal, however if not he's out of contract. A top top player.
As old school 606ers will know, I'm a Leadbitter fan and I maintain that he does more than people realise and I think Jewell rates him - he played in every game when available for him. However, if Jewell feels he can get a better replacement than I imagine he'd probably take the 2 million. I don't think he'll go though.
£2m for a player who at best was consistent and at worst frustrating is good business, I think. He's only ever been the worst player on the pitch a handful of times, but the same can be said about him being the best. He's just middle of the road, so £2m is a cracking amount of money. That said, I would only accept it if we had a replacement lined up and ready to come in.
Leadbitter is in the last year of his contract so we either get him to sign a contract extension NOW or we MUST sell him NOW! We can not allow another player who we spunked 2.4Million on to leave for nothing at the end of next season. I have always rated Leabitter but his deadball is far from decent and he just doesn't support attacks enough. He always plays well when Headless Chicken isn't playing alongside him so on balance I would keep him. We can't afford to lose yet another experienced midfielder without a quality replacement lined up.
We can only sell him if somebody is prepared to buy him. Its not just the transfer fee, but his wages are quite high. I cant see a massive queue to buy him tbh. Given that Brum's manager resigned this afternoon, it's difficult to read too much into this rumour.
Unless of course Roy Keane is going to be installed as the new Brum manager and then we can expect to have a few bids come in for some of our players like Edwards,Leadbitter,Fulop,Healey etc etc.
