Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill must make enforced changes at Tamworth.

Marvin Elliott could be in line for a Bristol City recall at Tamworth on Sunday.

Steve Cotterill has few options when it comes to naming his first team as Bristol City boss.

Appointed earlier this week, the 49-year-old former Nottingham Forest manager takes charge of the Robins for the first time in Sunday's FA Cup second round tie at Tamworth.

And a combination of injury and non-availability will mean his starting eleven is likely to pick itself.

Midfielder Bobby Reid is still recovering from the hamstring strain that has ruled him out of the last three matches and will not be considered, while defender Karleigh Osborne begins a three-game ban following his red card at Preston North End last week.

Cotterill will also be without the services of on-loan pair Simon Gillett and Stephen McLaughlin, who have been denied permission to play for City in the FA Cup.

A change in formation from the 5-3-2 deployed against Leyton Orient and Preston to a more conventional 4-4-2 appears likely and Marvin Elliott is favourite to replace Gillett in the centre of midfield.

R/p and shiny will be happy if OLD Marv is back in the team and a likely change in formation..

'R/p will be happy' - that Gillett is unavailable.

I'd choose Marv and Pack for CM this w/e.
Shame about Reid but hope Bryan gets his chance.

I'd base our midfield on these 4 for the rest of the season.

we are playing a Conference National team. I'd hope the manager would use some of the u21 team players to see the wider squad to know what he has before we get to January. I know he is new to everyone but we know what players like JET can give us so have him on the bench.

I will be disappointed if players like Krans do not feature

Tiger - you're obviously a sandwich short of a picnic.

Bryan gives us more than enough width and if we play 3 at the back Moloney and Cunningham also provide width.

Or are you seriously suggesting we have another wide player lurking in our squad.

    I'm waiting.

Wes burns can play out wide id give him ago and if you wanna have cunningham and moloney it will be too crowded in the middle with the four midfielders

Go on Tiger you tell the muppett, I thought he had a little bit of knowledge but to pick a midfield with Pack Reid and 50p head is just stupid.

Now Redorint I think you ought to take over the mantle of the plank or better still you can be the doughnut <laugh>

'wanna have cunningham and moloney it will be too crowded in the middle with the four midfielders'

So this is how you think 3-5-2 works.

Concrete is only as thick as you lay it (preferably 100mm mind you jobbing builders <ok>) and wood is as thick as a trunk of a tree, in case you didn't realise that's where wood comes from. <laugh>

Oh and just incase you did mean harder I can design you a concrete that is easy to dig out after it's fully hydrated.

Wood is thicker than concrete, youuuuu PLANK <laugh>

We already have 3 or 4 out with injury/suspension/loan unavailability - this is an important game both from a morale point of view and financially.
Cotterill has already talked about not underestimating Tamworth, and therefore he will play his strongest available team.
It does give him a chance to see one or two of the fringe players, all be it be by necessity.

    I suspect formation will be 4-3-1-2;
    Parrish
    Moloney / Flint / Williams / Cunningham
    Pack / Elliott / Bryan
    JET
    Harewood / Baldock

I certainly hope the useless Shorey is not anywhere near Tamworth on Sunday.
The bench will be full of youngsters. Taylor, Burns, Brundle, Krans, Morrell, possibly Batten.
