My mate in Sydney has just posted that brentford have had thier planning permission for the new stadium approved. I did suggest that they could buy ours once we've built our new one but they could never be able to fill it! anyway, its the first I've heard of it. Anyone know anything about it? i'll go check thier board for info?
This has been in the planning for a number of years now, every now and then I hear that they are waiting on planning but it seems they have had to jump through a lot of hoops to get this far.
Local rivalry is strange. We think we are rivals to Chelsea but in truth we are of little or no consequence to them as Brentford, who consider themselves local rivals to us, are of little or no consequence to us either. True local rivalry is Sunderland v Newcastle, Liverpool v Everton, The Manchesters, maybe Tottenham v Arsenal etc. Probably many other example too. I am not sure we actually have local rivals??
AVB thought the same until the Scum bus stopped in South Africa Road. He soon learnt, even if we are irrelevant to them.
I guess 'rivals' to me implies a sort of equality whereby one might win on one day and the other another time. Think Nadal and Federer in their best days. Ok, we beat AVB's Chelsea but the sad fact is that they outplayed us with 9 men and I thought they were going to score! I suppose we should be rivals with Fulham but it just does not have that spark for me.
Logically it should be the Ruperts but its strange that we've never really been that bothered with each other despite being roughly the same size and on each other's doorsteps.
It was spicy for a while after Hughes left and came to us but otherwise agree - not really bothered by them much. (No disrespect FT!)
I found the Fulham fans very juvenile when we played them in the Premiership. I would like to see them going down
Wasnt so much with regards to the teams as opposed to who could get a stadium built in our corner of W.London first. They seem to have the edge on us at the moment?
