I remember '63, the school bus (from Boldon) picked up in Castletown but got stuck on Ferryboat Lane. We had the choice of walking to school or back home over what is now Townend Farm and the drifted snow on the main road to East Boldon was level with the top of the hedgerows. Great fun then especially missing school but don't really fancy it now!
just get your cross country ski's on lads. nowt to it. there might be a market for winter tyres this year then. anyone up for managing uk sales and distribution for some spiky numbers?
one of the same: agent/mafia link at around €600 minimum for a set of 4 someone is making some coin out of it up here. does anyone put winter tyres on in the uk?
There is an exception, if your RWD beemer is an automatic you don't need winter tyres 'cos you can't drive it in the snow!

There was someone predicting this on the radio last year, the thing is they don't take into account the gulf stream which is why we don't get the same extreme weather as the scandinavien countries. Its not the snow I hate its the loss in business, if this is true I will probably go bust, I can withstand a couple of bad weeks but 100 days will bankrupt my company and many others. I am off to panic buy snow shovels to sell on ebay.
The gulf stream has altered course slightly so our winters will be more unpredictable. New York has always had severe winters but they have had somewhat mild winter for a year or two, where as the latitude equivalent of northern england has had ****. Saying that mind Ontario in Canada is already under 2' of snow..
blimey - some crazy pics there. when was the last time the tyne burst its banks? It's been unusually mild up here (+ 2 or 3 mostly, only a couple of days down at -5 or -6) and still cycling in as limited snow. there;s been some mental winds, for some reason almost every Sunday for the last few weeks but nee big snow yet. I want it to snow, coz we're equipned to deal with it and there's more stuff to do outside. hope the bad weather doesn't impact people there too much/badly....and I hope I can get my flight over to see us at west ham!

Right I am off to buy a club in NYC . I work in the US a lot and their weather is extremely unpredictable, their weather reporting is even worse though, everything is a major disaster until it actually happens. I did get stuck in a hurricane last year which was not fun. The only thing predictable about the weather is its unpredictable.
Isn't New York on the same latitude as Madrid or there or there abouts? I believe it could be the Labrador Current which generally gives New York it's very cold winters..
