Home ⺠Transfers SUNDERLAND TO PUT WICKHAM UP FOR SALE Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Thu, 12/05/2013 - 11:07 Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is ready to sell Connor Wickham. The Mirror says the former England Under-21 star has scored four in five games on loan in the second tier at struggling Sheffield Wednesday, and is one of the Black Cats' most saleable assets. Wickham, 22, cost £8million from Ipswich under then-boss Steve Bruce in 2011. A cut-price fee of half that figure could see the Suffolk side and promotion chasers Burnley test Sunderland, where finances are tight and Poyet is seeking up to five new faces in January. Wednesday would have to push the boat out to afford a permanent deal.
Interesting..If he carries on scoring for Shef Wed, we may end up with a January bidding war for him..
Odd isn't it, when a championship player is scoring the big clubs flock to see if he can make the top flight. Maybe he is just in the wrong setup with us.
Bri even that would be in staggered payments based on goals and appearances. He has, I believe, only 1.5 years left on his contract although as a 20 year old, we may be able to demand more? I don't know. What I do know is he will not play for us again as he is a mile off Altidore and Fletcher and we will recruit a striker in January IMO.
