We'll, I've just driven from South Cave to Homebase and back again - we had a Christmas tree disaster. Roads were empty, shops were empty, Sainsbury's was almost empty. No street lights, but apart from having to divert through Hessle to rejoin the A63 it was trouble free. You could hear all the sirens coming from the City centre, which is a bit mental as I was only a couple of miles away. Stay safe, hope everyone avoids property flooding.
You obviously don't remember the last bit of water that put thousands of people out of their houses for 6 months. Even if it isn't the same as then, people are still aware what can happen with just a bit of rain overnight when the waters are this high.
On the flood barrier picture, if you can't see that big green thing, I doubt you'll see that little sign next to it saying to stop.
Super Plod on PM tonight - 6,000 homes recommended be cleared ( = evacuated), here in North Norfolk. Emergency gathering-points. It's 1953 again......

I don't see anyone on here panicking actually so your sarcasm is out of place. We are just sharing information.
the tides have peaked for tonight expecting possibly similar scenes tommorow morning in the exit of the storm with the next tidal surge
