Luis Suarez has confirmed he will not leave Liverpool in the winter transfer window — and says the Premier League is the best league in the world.

But he still refuses to commit his future to the Anfield club beyond the summer. Real Madrid have been linked with a January move for the Uruguayan who is not Champions League cup-tied.

But after his four-goal demolition of Norwich he told Marca: 'When I’m happy off the pitch; it shows with my form on the pitch. I am happy in the Premier League; it’s the best league there is.'

When asked if he would stay until the end of the season ruling out any attempts to leave in the new year he said: 'Yes, I am happy here and I will stay.'

Suarez is now the Premier League’s top scorer with 13 goals despite being suspended for the first five games. He said: 'Luckily I am scoring goals to make up for the games that I lost. I am gaining in confidence and helping the team.

'The main thing is that we qualify for the Champions League after a long time out of the top four. I want to help the team achieve that.'

Despite the performance the Liverpool striker said he remained a notch below Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Asked about the Fifa world player award he said: 'The Ballon d’Or is impossible (for me) with the other stars competing for it. They are at another level.'

Win win...

He keeps playing like this, we "should" get top 4, if we're in the CL he may then stay.
Or, he helps us get CL, leaves and we cash in on him, if he keeps going at this rate and as a good world cup, teams better be coming with a big wallet, £80M min.

Personally I think he'll go whether you get top 4 or not. You need that champions league place to be able to spend the money on the right players

I'd assume that every South American player is now 100% focused on being in the form of their life come June. The best place to guarantee that for Suarez is here at Anfield. If he moves in January a lot of things can happen. Different league might see his form drop etc.

Money is one thing, but becoming an eternal legend in Uruguay is another thing all together, and he isn't exactly on a bad salary here.

After the WC all bets are off. If he shines again (he had a great WC in SA, they finished #3, not bad for a country with a population of 3.3m) he'll probably be Real Madrid's €80m+ signing of the summer.

They made it late to the big dance but that Uruguay team is finding form. Not to mention they will have both Cavani and SUarez firing and if they can continue that, gotta see how the draw is too, would not be a bad bet to make!

shades of the first world cup in Brazil where Uruguay won?

They'll get far with the squad they have, a hard fought quarter final at least, but a lot of the later stages in the WC is determined on the draw. If they meet Brazil, Argentina or Germany in the quarter final stage I cannot see them make it two semi's in a row.

Suarez will only leave in January if he is absolutely certain that it will improve his performance in June - and as things are going right now that's not very likely. I also think that he might have had his sights on the WC last summer, and that was the reason for the whole debacle over him moving or not, and lashing out at the British press. He wanted this season to give him the optimal preparation for the world cup and not be distracted by anything else.

Of course I might be wrong on all accounts, I'm no expert - although most professional pundits seemingly aren't either :)

We didn't let him go in the summer, regardless of his wishes, so why would we let him go in the January window?
The same circumstances apply, the only way he'd be able to go is if we had an adequate replacement lined up and that hardly seems likely.
At least early on in the summer window you have time to spend the money wisely (hopefully), whereas in January you're smack in the middle of the season and so can't allow your best players to waltz off and drop you in it and you end up panic-buying a donkey.

14. If we get top four, he'll only leave if Real, Barca or Bayern come knocking.

F-Me!! £80m for Suarez in the summer + CL Money. I'd be hoping for a league title in the next couple of seasons with those funds

He's grumpy because his team can't even count as far as the sum Suarez would cost.

How long is left on his current contract? Will it be 2 years come the end of this season? If so then i think all this talk of £80m is a bit ridiculous. Maybe if he had just signed a long term 5+ year contract, but not if he will be heading towards the last year or two of his contract. Players drop in value the closer they get to the end of there contract.

I also don't think there is a club in the world who will pay that sort of money for a transfer. The big money transfers for all the top teams bar Madrid have been in the £30-50m area, other than PSG and Monacco who went for £60m strikers (no other clubs would have offered as much).

And as for Madrid there were several factors that lead to such a high fee, Bales commercial potential being a big reason. Only two players have ever gone for this sort of value, both to Madrid, both physically very strong and quick, both with high commercial value. I don't see Suarez fitting into this category and can't see Madrid paying that for him.

If you make top 4 i can see you keeping him for a bit longer. If you don't then he'll be off in the summer, probably for £50-60m, i'd say £70m is the the very upper limit and only if you negotiate very well and one of the VERY rich clubs make him there main target, but i can't see it tbh. Who knows though, it's football and there is more and more money being pumped into the game.
