At last the penny has dropped. You play two forwards and score 3 goals. It's hardly rocket science. Great to see an attacking display with the ball going forward instead of sideways. Well done AJ for providing two of the goals for Austin and Holiett. He put in a good shift.

In previous games, the ball that Johnson chased into the corner for before crossing for Austin's goal, would have been chased by Austin himself, or more likely not have been played at all.

Absolutely. I wasn't a major fan of AJ's but I have been very impressed by his work ethic for us. Very good player at this level. Let's hope he stays injury free.

Well one of the goals came when we reverted to 4-5-1 and Hoiletts was a lucky bobble in. Not sure the result had so much to do with the formation as it did with us getting the rub of the green in front of goal for a change. It's not as if we created more efforts on goal than usual. 4 on target and 3 goals I think.

Good post Bob although it is fair to say we looked more ambitious last night generally.

For our 2nd goal AJ again chased the ball deep into the Bournemouth corner, and pulled it back to I believe Simpson, who put in the cross, that Austin missed, and Hoilett scored from. So AJ was hustling for 2/3 goals in our 4-4-2 formation.

Yea I wasn't saying that that goal came when we were playing 4-4-2, what I meant was that it was a fortuitous goal.

Go back far enough, and the people clammering for 4-4-2 will probably be the same people moaning their balls of earlier in the season when we started out playing the same formation.

In all of the games where AJ has come on as a second striker as substitute, we have looked more interesting and ambitious. And in this past game where he started with Austin we've looked more interesting and ambitious. I think that's the point being made here. We don't look so much like we'll nick a win with him. We look more like we deserve a win.
