As he falls his hand touches the ball outside the area and can be deemed accidental, the ball moves into the box with Austin lining it up and his hand knocks it away. If the ref interprets the first touch as a foul it is a free kick which should be blown for straight away. If he has played advantage, the second handball is a penalty and sending off. The ref seems to have got caught between the two.

The fact the second handball was clearly deliberate should be a red card as it denied advantage being played...

From my seat in B Block it looked a penalty and a red card,

    Sending-Off Offences

A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
    1. is guilty of serious foul play
    2. is guilty of violent conduct
    3. spits at an opponent or any other person
    4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
    5. denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
    6. uses offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
    7. receives a second caution in the same match

The first hand ball (left hand outside the area) was not deliberate and so this was not a sending off offence.

Its also not a fk if its not deliberate unless the rules have been changed.

I'm still not sure. We can all see that the first handball wasn't inside the box. But they stopped play, which mean something had to be given. Now, if it was accidental, don't stop play. But if you've stopped play and he's the last man, it's red. He didn't even get a yellow. So, he's the last man, a free kick is given and it's not a yellow? Dodgy decision. A cock up, if you will.

Aaaaand... if the play was stopped for the second handling, then it's red and a penalty.

But then the funny thing about that is the play was only stopped when the linesman waved his flag in the second handling. So it seems like they backtracked for fear of making a big decision. Maybe it is true that they didn't know which player it was but surely that would be easily fixable by asking the two teams which player it was or asking the fourth official.
