Villa are known as a counter attacking team yet they hit us on the break with ease. Concerning we didn't close them down quickly. Don't think gazze can be blamed but you have to admit boruc has quicker hands. Boruc wouldst have committed himself so early for the first and may have stood a chance for the 2nd (rememberVP header). 3rd was a great deal but as stated above- midfield error. Perhaps big vic would have crushed him. Im not usually the pessimistic type but I find it strange that man city is labelled a match we 'might get something from'.
Yoshida was bloody awful tonight. We did 95% of the work brilliantly. Created chances, scored 2 good goals, dominated and controlled the ball, but just lost concentration three times and were severely punished. It really was a defensive performance out of last season rather than this.
I think Boruc is so important and not just for his hands. You could see the defence seemed less organised. More people were left unmarked. Likely due to communication from the keeper. Maybe it is also the confidence of the defence in Gazz. Unless Kelvin comes back for the next came I don't see how it changes much.
We have been found out - teams have learnt how to play against us and we have only one game plan. Needs sorting out in January; deeper squad and a Plan B.
Any other match when you have 77% possession you win the game. Villa took their chances so fair play to them but let's not overeact.
Sounds like Cork has had a few thoughts on his future; http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...ck_Cork__I_didn_t_make_the_most_of_my_chance/
Judging by the posts since the game finished it is time to throw in the towel, we know that if we lose against Citeh, Poch will be in a taxi to the airport on Monday and relegation beckons, am I right?
Odd isn't it how expectatioons change so quickly. Pre-season few of us would have expected anything from Arsenal and Chelsea away or City at home. Villa was a disappointing result but overall we are still in a good place.
We've not been "found out", it's just that our depth is appalling. For most of the second half, we only had 2 of our normal back 7 playing in their normal position - all it did was show how important Morgan, Wanyama, Fonte (with Lovren) and Boruc are.
Can't argue with facts but it's certainly didn't feel like it. I thought that when we did shoot we should've looked for another pass but when a good opportunity arose to shoot (Davis had some good opportunitirs to hit one) we didn't.
I wasn't at the match, but it looked like Gaza had a bit of a mare. Is this about right? Bit of a worry for the City game, especially if Fonte is also out injured, or will he be back? It's the first football match my girlfriend will have ever been too, I'm hoping it's not too humiliating.
