I love a derby as much as the next man but, this season, I feel it time to say bye bye to the great unwashed for a few years.. The crap that was spouted by them after the derby defeat was inevitable but they fail to see the big picture. They seem to place more importance on two games a season than on the rest of them. I was willing to give them a chance you know, to revel in the derby win is ok, we would do the same. However that win was just a thin cover of emulsion over paper thin walls. They have a bloody awful team and they are finished this season. I will enjoy the last 2/3rds of this tenure from 2 points of view. First, as I watch them clutch at straws as the game run out and second, as I watch us slowly creep up the league again. I will enjoy it so much as I watch them squirm in pain as the death throes of their season concludes. Hhmnn Am I a Psychopath to want to see, in all its glory, the demise of a pox ridden football club like them?? I might be!!!!

I still reckon they'll be ok. If they were 10 points adrift then it may be too much. However with only 5 points I reckon their home form will see them ok. I'm less convinced about Poyet than when they got him though. I'll enjoy watching them squirm and suffer. I still like the derbies though despite the recent defeats, so I wouldn't want them down.

I will of course laugh my socks off if they do slip through the trap door.

Just 5 points adrift of West Ham in 15th, I think they'll manage to stay up.

Neither side deserved to win that match frankly, on the day both teams looked equally poor.

Yeah it was annoying at the time for that very reason but you couldn't read too much into it, particularly given our form since.

I realise derby games matter of course they do, but each season in actuality it represents 6 points.
If Sunderland did the double on us every year but we finished pushing for European spots while they narrowly avoid relegation, I'd take it every time.

I think they'll be safe though eventually this season but it'll be a struggle...

    Fixed

Poor little boy, upset at losing bragging rights for a couple of games, how ever are you coping? <wah> What with decades of having the bragging rights yourself, decades of the ribbing, taunting and goading that we've taken on the chin. Bless you. You don't even know you're born mate believe me. Some good lads on here who understand we have our banter, we take the piss, we both claim victory from our words because we've both got what we want from the exchange. A bit of harmless fun and piss take. Then there's you, completely without class, stamping your little feet. Dare I say Beeling? <yikes> You're like child who didn't get the skin off the custard. <laugh> Now if you don't mind, I'll get back to the relegation fight I'm oblivious to. ;)

Evening fellas, could be 5 on the trot for you tonight. Swansea have been useless at home and you're flying. You must fancy the three points.

Most know it's all good fun – it's unrealistic for people not to laud it a bit when they bag the derby 'bragging rights'...

Evening though to you, but don't expect a fifth Toon win tonight. Tough place to go Swansea even without their strikers so a point is a decent result I suspect.

You confident of doing to Chelsea what you did to Citeh?

To be honest I see a draw max which I'd take wholeheartedly. Definitely the toughest of our upcoming Chelsea fixtures. Don't think we'll let ourselves down like, just can't see us getting many chances playing Ki so deep, can't believe poyet can't see it yet.

Yeah a point would be great. Chelsea are a funny one though aren't they, a little bit like Man City are on the road.

You would feel that if the players can get in their face and stop them playing, nabbing a goal and frustrating them seems possible.

It's one where Demba Ba could easily pop up and be the perfect pantomime villain though eh?

I'd think Torres would have something to say about that.

Fernando Torres has scored six goals in seven Premier League starts against Sunderland - against no side has he netted more in the competition.- Opta

Unfortunately for Sunderland, I think West Ham have a better team than them and will pick up more points between now and the end of the season.

I think Sunderland might be ok and kick on from last night. Yes they lost but I don't think they were too bad and unlucky not get a draw at the end.
