We're in the Humberside region. Please waste your time searching for the various previous discussion threads in which some posters are unable to distinguish journalistic shorthand for the area in which we live from the current government county names. Thank you.
Keep driving until you find a sign to say you're in this region you dream of, imaginary, Government created or historic We have a name that accurately represents this area, there's no need for someone to use one that has no definition in reality.
Anecdotal and continuing media use proves you wrong old boy (See previous threads on this tired old topic)
I'd say it proves them stupid. I could call it Nineva, it'd be as meaningful and as defined. In fact, the media in question say themselves it is wrong and bollocks, but they do it to prompt a reaction because they know only a fool believes it means anything.
Not really, I just asked why, the reactionaries are the ones who tried to say they were right for doing it.
Careful with that hair! You'll split it. I wonder if there is anyone in South London who 'reacts' everytime that area is mentioned in the media, and denies it exists? Or the Black Country? Perhaps non believers could compile a list of non existent places and regions to clarify? This certainly is an interesting topic, that's for sure
I also don't get why by post, any place (in the East Riding) west of Market Weighton is classed as York, with no mention of the East Riding of Yorkshire in their address?
The Post Office don't recognise any Counties at all. Yet they still include some historic data in their PAF files, which companies then sell on and others use in error.
Not another name change thread. FFS the only name change I am interested in is the club one. To be fair the city does reside on the banks of the Humber so referring to Humberside is in fact correct. It is when the word Humberside or North Humberside appears as part of an address it pisses me off. When giving my address I always stress that I live in East Yorkshire
