Jol is a top manager but sadly his time was up. Flitcroft couldn't have done much more with what was at his disposal. Sean O'Driscoll also had to go I think - promotion favourites by relegation and no sign of improvement. Dave Jones was a little unlucky.

Holoway to Wigan might be a cause for concern - whilst our recollections of him might be somewhat tainted, he does have a proven record of getting out of this division and Dave Whelan would back him in January on transfers - their dealings in the transfer market in the summer should have ensured a healthy war chest even before the parachute payments
The only managerial sacking I can think of so far that wasn't justified is Holloway at Palace, although I think Pulis is a better manager.
