No more match threads for Lamballana until further notice. Early goal to build up our hopes, then lose 3-1, losing Boruc and Schneiderlin to injury.
Seems Pochettino agrees with me about the 'in your face' physcial stuff in the second half. He said to Jonathan pearce 'There were many decisions that did not go our way' When Jonathan Pearce asks which decisions were they Poch laughed as if a stupid question had been asked and replied: 'The ones you don't see are probably the ones that have the most influence in the game Sort of mirrors my thoughts that Ramires could have had several yellows.
I saw the match on Sky at a relatives and I should have known better; I don't think I have seen us win there! Did we play well? First half I thought we were worth the lead. Second half, no complaints about the result and no, we didn't play particularly well, but this was Chelsea! How much did their squad cost? Why did we expect that a team of such quality would let is play well? Those that say to accept this is to lack ambition, not at all. We are on what I think is an unstoppable journey to greatness. We have made great progress this last year. There will be better days and to suggest that we should play well at the Bridge and pick up three points is just a little impatient. Gazza played well in some games and two or three decent performances whilst Boruc is out might just be the making of him. Fingers crossed.
Liverpool lost to Hull...their fans will be disappointed but are they giving up hope...of course not. I'm glad to be on not606....don't think I could take Barry on Saints Forum
Lawro says we are naïve in our tactics, and shouldn't attempt it vs the big clubs. He's right, it massively failed us vs United, Liverpool (x2), Chelsea and Man City. Shame on us.
Not really what he said at all. He said we were naive not to give more support to the two centre backs when Chelsea put two up front. Hard to find fault with that assessment really.
But in this squad that support tends to come from central midfield, rather than telling the fullbacks to stay at home. If our fullbacks stay at home, we have no width whatsoever. If we have no width whatsoever, our defense will be under even more pressure because we won't have much going forward.
I think we should play with three CBs at times. Either Wanyama could just drop in there or we could bring on Yoshida/Hooiveld for one of our attacking players. Pochettino supposedly learnt his trade from Bielsa, so he should be familiar with this idea.
Sorry guys, it's all my fault! Watched the first half, all well and good, 1-0 up and I went to work at half-time, and every time I do that when Saints play, we lose! Apologies all. In all seriousness, not too disheartened by a defeat at Stamford Bridge ... Chelsea are a top side. Worried about Boruc, but think Gazza has huge potential and this could be time to shine. I have faith.
I like that idea. Schneiderlin's such an all-round player; he would be more than capable of single-handedly running the defensive midfield area, especially bearing in mind his workrate and energy. Wanyama could play as the central centre back of the 3; he's got the physical presence and defensive capabilities to do so. When we're on the ball, he could then push up alongside Schneiderlin as a defensive midfielder, playing the anchor man role.
Sounds most unlikely. It'd have to be a very serious and complicated break to keep an athlete, with access to the very best physio, out for six weeks.
Yesterday was the first time I saw the best and worst of Victor. Well worth his place and does many good things, but he got caught with the ball a couple of times, so I agree that he's better further up the pitch where others can cover for him.
I agree and he is still young and learning. He is at the right place to be given a chance...as MP said you have to allow youngsters to learn from mistakes. Just a bit further up the pitch . I think he will get a goal soon...he has a powerful shot and he tries every now and then. Wednesday would be a good day.
