crap game but to be honest thought we deserved to get a draw out of the game,and Pugh should had scored with the best chance of the game. Lots of penalty shouts and would be surprised if none were valid.
Their penalty shout in the first half was the strongest. Although the ref gave us absolutely nothing all afternoon. We deserved exactly what we got. The goal had been coming for 20 minutes. We never press the ball in midfield and it's fecking annoying.
Sounds as though Varney blew his chance to impress. Let's hope Blackstock is back for the next game. Alternatively, Poleon or Smith will have to start. After his glaring miss, I suspect Peltier will return to the bench. C'est La Vie. Roll on Wednesday
I don't think it's Varney's fault...he's the kind of player who needs the ball of his feet to run at people but with balls been booted up to the strikers or into the box he had his back facing goal most the time. Not his kind of match for that kind of player tbh. Should of started with Smithy.
I also was thinking about why Varney started and also McD's squad rotation system that he has. Smith was on fantastic form when he was dropped for Blackstock, it was harsh imo. but fair as Dexter helped the team more. But if Blackstock is injured surely we should go back to what was working before he joined which was the Smith and Ross partnership. I also don't think we should be playing 3 players in the team that aren't first team regulars especially when 2 of the regulars they replaced are fit and ready to play. I'm happy with squad rotation as it is an important part of football in this modern age but I would still like to limit the squad players in the team. I would've personally have dropped Pugh and/or Peltier the second I found out Blackstock was injured. Or maybe McD just has a lot more faith in his overall squad than I do.
