35 minutes ago Michael Laudrup and Gus Poyet will find themselves on a Spurs shortlist if frustrated chairman Daniel Levy decides to axe Andre Villas-Boas. (Sunday Express)
Gus linked to due to Spurs connection. Too new an arrival here to be in contention, you would have thought. Laudrup, what exactly does he do?
Thats what i thought far too soon, plus i hope he stays here for the long haul, dont rate avb mind. Laudrup, dunno, what does he do?
Laudrup just looks cool with floppy hair and casual dress sense for a manager. He has been a steady choice for Swansea, I don't see him improving them any further.
Fun journalism but there's no chance. The Spurs owner has sanctioned a £100 million spending spree and wouldn't have an unproven manager handling that team. This was the season they were supposed to eclipse Arsenal. My belief is that Spurs will bring in another foreign manager. There's no one, in this country, big enough and available to take that job. They've gone down the 'quick fix' Man City road and there's no turning back.
Working with a lot of Spuds fans, I know they are not happy with the style of play, so I suspect journos just picked out a couple of managers from lower down the league who like a passing game.
Like Smug, I'd be very surprised if they appointed an unproven manager to work with the very expensively assembled squad, they need champions league football.
Too soon me thinks. Way too soon. Spurs won't want risk stepping back further. They'll want a here and now Manager.
I read they fancy Capello. Fabio Capello, the former England manager, has been mentioned in discussions at Tottenham as a shock candidate to take over if current boss Andre Villas-Boas is sacked. Villas-Boas came under pressure after Sunday’s 6-0 thumping at Manchester City and Capello would be high on the list of chairman Daniel Levy’s possible successors. Spurs’ bosses, who bankrolled a £110million summer spending spree by Villas-Boas, have been losing patience with him. But he earned breathing space with Thursday’s Europa League defeat of Tromso — and victory over Manchester United at White Hart Lane today would silence many critics angered after home defeats by West Ham and Newcastle and that humiliation at City. Capello, 67, is currently managing Russia. He guided them to next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil and the Russians hope he will agree a four-year contract extension next week.
