Whilst everyone is justified in having an opinion it seems some let things cloud their common sense. What we have is a team not delivering for several reasons all of which need to be addressed quickly. For me we need to improve defensibly as our main objective, had we been more solid at the back in our last three games we would have got something from them and a point is better than a defeat. Going forward can be addressed once the defence is performing, those who honestly thought we were promotion candidates over the last six weeks have been in my opinion watching a different team. The table does not lie and we are what we are a mid table team on a bad run, capable like mst championship teams of pulling off the odd stunning result. This squad does not have enough in every department to be serious promotion candidates and has not been so all season if you were to analize each complete game played so far. AS FOR THOSE WHO CHANTED THAT S.... from the stands yesterday, take your season tickets with you and go and watch Scum Town as your on a leval with their supporters!!!!! to each and every voice of you yesterday you were pathectic!!!!!. Real Watford supporters know its in the clubs DNA to take us through magical, average and awful periods of time but.... we love our club and as such should treat all wearers of our golden shirt with respect many failed yesterday and personal dissapointment is no excuse.
I suspect that those responsible will have done so by the time Sheff Wed come to The Vic. One can but hope....
What's clear is that we have hit rock bottom, I'm also hearing rumours of discontent within the training ground. All of it not good!
I'm sorry but you can't blame the fans for getting fed up with the rubbish that's on offer at present. Although i don't chant derisory comments I sympathize with those who do. You can't just dismiss them by suggesting they go elsewhere they pay for their season tickets and have a right to express their opinion when they see s<>t and we saw *hi* yesterday. Those chanting also love Watford which is why they have bought the tickets to see them play football. They get annoyed when they see the team they love being led into the sort of football that they know won't get anywhere. Hence their frustration. Until either Zola changes things or the Pozzo's do those fans will continue to chant when they see this rubbish and good on them - at least they are trying to make it known that things need changing and need changing fast.
We did not play as a team yesterday, we cannot pass the ball in the net! Someone has to take responsibility and take a frickin shot! Like I said post match, Casseti stood out, the rest puh! Bond did not look good on any of the crosses. I understand a bad day at the office but that was a very bad performance and not the first one either! We need to buck our ideas up sharpish!
Yellowtoyou, There is no defence to what was chanted at yesterdays match, yes people have a right to express their opinions but in that way no way. I never have a problem with a fan getting fed up with consistent week in week out same old mistakes etc and by all means moan but what was chanted yesterday was taking that right over the line. In sticking up for those supporters Yelowtoyou are you saying the players did not try, care etc because nobody else's view is saying that so in which case the fans that joined into that yesterday are out of order and are mocking our own players!!!!. I for one do not wish to pay MY money to hear so called fellow supporters "mock" my team when it is through the dire performance of yesterday still plain to see they were trying. I said in my earlier post that things need to be addressed and i will add hopefully quickly on the field. But I stand by my right of opnion to that I for one do not want people at Watford treating "our" team in such a way as was the case yesterday even if it means that at the moment only 2 thousand turn up for games if they at least try and give the team support even if they stood in silence it would have a more positive effect than yesterdays chanting. So Yellowtoyou please don't sympathize because yesterdays fans let us all down and need to improve as much as the team for yesterday they were not supporting Watford
At yesterday's game I heard there was an altercation in the dressing room after last weeks match. Anyone else hear this?
Apropos fans venting their spleen at matches, perhaps those involved should consider this headline from this morning's Independent: Dr Assem Allam: 'I don't mind them singing 'City till we die'. They can die as soon as they want' Do you really want to risk the possibility of your club degenerating to this? Yes you pay your money to watch, but does that really entitle you to alienate management, players and other fans? If you think that it does then perhaps you should rethink how you spend your money - anger management courses might be an appropriate starting point.
Well Flittonhorn we are going to have to differ on this one - in my view those fans who made their feelings known have every right to do so. I don't know whether the players tried their hardest or not - I hope they did - but i know what was on show yesterday and the week before and for too many games now has been awful. Those chanting yesterday have allowed 5 or 6 games at the very least for things to change and they haven't. They have got worse. Their frustration eventually got out yesterday and i don't blame them for that.
Bolton's Boots - I have already said I did't chant but I sympathize with those who did - I certainly don't think that anyone went out to alienate other fans, but instead those chanting wanted to voice what they felt and if that gives the management and players a kick up the jacksey then all well and good.
There's no doubting it was a poor performance on Saturday and the fans' reaction reflected it...anything from frustration and disappointment to downright hostility. I'm sure no-one on the field was deliberately not trying, but nor was there enough positive leadership or mutual encouragement once we went behind. Zola admitted there was something wrong and it does not look like a happy team at the moment. Negative and critical comments from fans annoys me more than anything that happens on the field but I've found to my cost that challenging such people generally leads to abuse and indeed on one occasion a steward threatened to turf me out (at my age!) for complaining and therefore increasing one idiot's anger. If they won't go and sit with the opposition fans I think we should open a special enclosure as far away from other fans as possible....The Stroppy Moaning Braindeads Stand perhaps?
I'm well and truly on the fence. Did I / Would I boo or negative chant? No, definitely not. Do I understand people venting their frustration? Yes I do. It was one of those games I'm afraid.
I'm sorry Bloother but there is just no justification for chanting negative stuff towards the team whilst the game is still going. It's pathetic and those that did it or frankly even sympathise with it are below the rest of us. I couldn't believe it when it happened and I can't remember something like that in over 20 years - yes booing at the end and the odd bit of sarcasm but never telling the players they are embarrassing (and there has definitely been worse stuff on display in that time).
Has there been worse stuff on display? It was poor on every level but, at least we can only get better. As for the booers it would be wrong to poo poo the booers because the booers don't want to poo poo the team even when the team are playing poo poo. Perhaps a little less poo poo from everyone and the poo poo will stop the poo poo booers, geddit!
Surely you are joking! You have a short memory (or you have the boo boy blinkers on) if you think yesterday was the worst stuff in 20 years.
