a story from a couple of months ago but what a motor http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-10810772 £1.2m car clamped outside Harrods
Seriously...what kind level of tosser do you have to be to do that? \ Not like they cant afford the ticket !
Its very good actually, maybe too much so. Slightly anonymous which is good for work but it doesnt cut a dash like an old jag / daimler hence my recent acquisition of a slightly rusty 81 Double Six
Sweet. A 4 liter diesel must gobble up the Motorway miles effortlessly. I heard about your Daimler. Very nice. (Not sure about the beige though ) Good news for COL & DT. SAAB are making cars again: http://www.saabsunited.com/category/news
Just moved it over Killy, don't want to derail that other thread. Its interesting that your old beat up wagon (car not wife ) was more capable than your modern motor. They don't make 'em like they used to eh? What mpg are you returning from your Chrysler?
Only 20 mpg city driving, 28 mpg highway - 3.5L V6 engine The retired 22 yr old Toyota Corolla 4WD wagon was still getting 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway with a 1600cc 4 cyl engine. The replacement 2005 Chrysler 300 AWD with 200,000 KM was incredibly cheap at $2500 but it has all season tires (Firestone near new), not ideal for winter driving, plus it is carrying a few other issues - the skid control ESP system is not working and check engine light is intermittent. The AWD drive is by axle - 30% front, 70% rear. Right now on those tires cornering is a bit dodgy, so I have to be careful driving during a snow storm - afterwards when roads are ploughed, you are back to a dry surface - looking ahead 5 cm snow forecast for tomorrow (Wed), 10 cm Fri and 35 cm on Sun. Would like to find a good used set of winter P225/60R18 tires, mounted & balanced on rims, that I could slap on for the next 4 months of winter driving, then replace in April with the Firestone all seasons. Our 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan FWD family vehicle with 3.8L engine and good winter tires all round is a better overall winter drive right now in these weather conditions.
Well getting it at such a low price negates the fact she might be a bit on the thirsty side. I'd imagine that old 4 pot Corolla felt pretty under-powered in the wide open, vastness of Canada? Such little engines are perfectly fine in a lot of cases back here but out there I'd have thought you'd require more punch? The Dodge sounds quite sturdy alright. Plenty of weight in them. I reckon Wubba might be returning better mpg than you in his 4 Liter A8 though. Although I'm not sure mpg conversations are appropriate for such cars!
Well, I've read this thread with great interest. We all have a varied taste in cars and now that I'm posting my all time favourite, many may not like at all .................... but I do, I love it. The 1968 fastback Mustang. Having completely rebuilt panels vans in my younger years ( late 70's ) .......... along with one or two other types of motor since then, if I can ever do another it, will be a 'tang'. Manual gearbox, duel exhaust to hear to great sounds of the V8 and then the wife and I just cruising. It costs nothing to dream ........... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I'm surprised you haven't gone for the Falcon, Aussie? You're obviously in the Ford camp as opposed to Holden eh?
I have Swords, the work ute and one for the good lady of the house. Was a Holden guy for many a year but the FG series XR6 Falcons are the best I've driven from Ford. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
