WATFORD FC v YEOVIL TOWN From http://espnfc.com/en/preview/367709/preview.html?soccernet=true&cc=3888 Watford's lengthy injury troubles show little sign of easing ahead of the home clash against Yeovil. Lloyd Doyley (hamstring), Essaid Belkalem (ankle), Ikechi Anya (calf) and Tommie Hoban (ankle) are all definitely ruled out of the encounter. Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia (illness) and defender Gabriele Angella (thigh) are doubts, while Troy Deeney (dead leg) and Sean Murray (back) have returned to training this week and will be assessed along with long-term absentee Almen Abdi (foot). The Hornets are boosted by the availability of Lewis McGugan after a one-match suspension while recent addition Fitz Hall has been given the green light having not been cleared in time for last weekend's defeat to Bolton. Yeovil's trio of loan signings look set to be involved. Manager Gary Johnson was busy on deadline day, adding Liverpool striker Adam Morgan, Nottingham Forest forward Ishmael Miller and Everton midfielder John Lundstram to his squad and all three could make their debuts at Vicarage Road. But Johnson will be without captain Jamie McAllister for a fortnight after he picked up a shoulder injury in their 2-1 loss to Doncaster last Friday. Liam Davis replaced him at The Keepmoat and the former Coventry man looks set to get the nod from the start while McAllister is sidelined. Watford need a win and a clean sheet, I'd very happliy take 2-0. COMMENTS WELCOME. ENJOY THE GAME
My second game of the season cannot wait, little bit nervous as we are not exactly in the greatest of form! But I am still going for a 4-0 home win. No disrespect to Yeovil but it's teams like these we need to turn over big time! U' Orns
Wow!! We have jumped forward in time a few years. No wonder im confused about the date! On the topic of the match, I am not sure how it will go. Hopefully we will have some of the injured players back (Murray over McGugan). My team would be ------------- Almunia --------Angella Hall Nosworthy --------------Thorne ---Pudil Battocchio Murray Faraoni ----------Deeney Forestieri Subs: Bond, McGugan, Ekstrand, Bellerin, Fabbrini, Acuña, Iriney
Nice one Mexico - 5*'s from me. Cannot go tomorrow as we are at a wedding. Our friends daughter is getting married and the her brother gets married in January in LA! - luckily for my bank balance they only have 2 kids! I will go for. Watford 3 nil win as we bounce back to winning ways
Thanks Mex, bit pushed this weekend and just hoping to be home for the game. Quite often Watford's result follows that of Chateauroux and they are leading 2-0 at present, so I live in hope.
I havent seen Acuña or Bellerin are doubtful. But in that case Ekstrand for Angella. Not ideal, but its necessary
another great thread..thanks Mex . Al, you'd better make sure you say hello or you'll be in big trouble! lol My Yeovil friend is coming up for this one, and we're meeting before the game. Last week i told him not to worry...that i didn't think we'd beat 'even Yeovil'...he wasn't best pleased about the 'even Yeovil' bit, but i wasn't best pleased with my sudden negativity! However, after last Saturday's game he messaged me with a 'i see what you mean' kind of message! So, i have no idea how this will go but i have a feeling that if we don't win this, Zola will be close to losing his job, and if we have a difficult win, it may paper over the cracks. Only a convincing win will do therefore...and i'm going for a 3-1, even though that's probably not convincing enough!
It would seem from the rumbles of discontent, that both our managers could well be under pressure to produce the goods this weekend
With a certain Burnley coming up after this, then Leeds, both away, this is a big game. Need to get this show back on the road.
H, I will be looking out for you I am sitting in the Rookery but at the other end from you but will get there early for a cuddle <swoon> Be still my beating heart Mwaah!!
Zola says we need to help the team by making more noise - probably fair enough but they do need to perform themselves.
Unless we are totally in control and running rampant, there is not an atmosphere at the VicWhich I feel really disappointed about. We used to create an atmosphere have but alas these days it is sadly missing! Maybe when we get 4 sides to the ground again? I really don't know! But never the less I will be there today lending my vocal support! U'Orns!
At what point this season did anticipation before a game turn to apprehension? If we play possession football but fail to score before half time, the fans will start to mutter. If that big bully Miller grabs a goal with 5 minutes to play, the mutters will turn to boos. Another loss and Zola will be saying "we are in a bad moment but be patient , give us your support and things will turn around". He may well be right, and has done enough to earn support, patience and respect. He is not on borrowed time he is on earned time. But capital is easier to spend than to accumulate and the Pozzo's will surely expect better. Will they feel they have given him the resources to do the job and blame him for coming up short? Or will they reinforce the squad in January and give him time to turn things around?
watfordfc line-up : Bond (GK); Ekstrand, Nosworthy, Cassetti; Bellerin, McGugan, Thorne, Murray, Pudil; Forestieri, Deeney (c)
