Footballer Joey Barton has attacked birthday boy Ryan Giggs - saying the Manchester United star is "a wrongun" for sleeping with his brother's wife.

The controversial QPR midfielder launched his sensational attack as the footballing world paid tribute to the winger on his 40th birthday.

Writing on Twitter, Barton said: "Giggs has done unbelievable to get to 40. Still a vital player for United. Some career he's had. The British Paulo Maldini.

"Still can't have him for getting up his brother's bird though. Great player but can't be doing that. No matter how much of a top player he is.

"Respect him as a player. But as a man, you do not do that to your own. He is a wrongun in my book."

Quite laughable really that Joey Barton gets on his high horse, I've done enough wrong in my life not to be critical of Giggs on his personal life, got to admit he would have be brilliant for England if he'd have choosen to play for us, one of the best players never to have gone to a European Championship or World Cup.

Can hardly compare Kevin Phillips achievement to that of Ryan Giggs. Giggs is still playing at the biggest club in world football. Was Phillips playing in the champions league at 40? Nope thought not.

 

Did Giggs get rave review when he played in the top flight for 22 years? Yes
Does the press **** over Giggs at any opportunity? Yes
Did Giggs get rave reviews for his amount of appearances?

All he's done now is turned 40, he's not a regular same as Phillips, yes he plays in the Champions League but that is more down to plenty of other footballers other than Ryan Giggs. Don't get me wrong in the 90's when Man Utd won the treble he was their best player.

 

People make mistakes look at Barton himself, I don't agree with his actions but as a football a true great, to be that consistent for so long at the top.

Him playing makes me feel young and I can't lose many other reasons to deflect that I am getting old

P.S. Another good win for you yesterday. What has Pardew done to change you this season lads? Or do you think it was the affects of the Europa that made you suffer in the league last season?

Mixture of loads of things which all dominoed from the European campaign. The Europa seriously stretched us and just hurt our league form more and more as the season moved on. He didn't do very well under a lot of pressure but it was a good learning experience for him.

He has taken some bold and at times unpopular decisions. One of the turning points this season was dropping HBA, not many fans supported him. He has been proved right and it was a masterstroke because we have a lot less vulnerable. Also the new players have now settled in and adapted to the league.

More than anything for me, the boring answer is probably the single biggest factor. A few wins have brought a bit of confidence.
