Best thing about living here is that in SHINE ON we have the best Pink Floyd tribute band there is. Go and see them, close your eyes and its Floyd. Playing at the Voyager on NYEve.
I think they've done so much excellent stuff its impossible to choose one.

Well you've all mentioned most of my favourites.

I loved the Animals album, bizarre as **** but brilliant all the same, they must have been stoned to **** when they wrote that.
Sheep & Pigs (3 different one's) were great imo.

Floyd like a lot of bands go through phases the early phase where the influence was Sid Barrett then onto the second phase where Roger Waters was most influencial then the third phase when Dave Gilmour seemed to take over (tho I suspect more of a democracy). music wise ffs how can you choose - as someone has stated one of their favourites relates to their personal situation at that time so mine is "coming back to life" from the Division Bell

I do not know if any of you have this but the cd "Amused to Death" by Roger Waters is one of the best cd's I have ever heard

Nice piece there mate and yeah, the Syd Barrett era was the start. Don't quite agree with the 3 stages stuff like, was 12 in 69 when my brothers music (floyd) caught my nuts and the rest is history. Had the pleasure over the years to see them twice live, the 2nd gig by far the best. I will check out the Roger Walters album, most things by him are sound..

Me and my much better half were in a pub on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh listening to 2 guys with guitars. They sang Wish You Were Here. Best version I ever heard!

I sat in a whitley bay pub in 1994 and heard Mark and David Knopfler do their version in front of a log fire and it was acoustic brilliance but you know what.. as special and good as it was, it wasn't floyd and you have to see them to see what I mean..<ok>

Never saw them mate, though I would've settled for being in Whitley bay that night. Loved the Straits.

My favorite band by a country mile.....
For me can't choose between Echoes, comfortably numb, wish you were here and Take it back.
Gilmours solo stuff is outstanding as well, have a listen to Islands

Love Floyd. My favorite band since I was a kid but to appreciate the music fully, you need to be in a particular frame of mind. Echoes springs to mind during the middle instrumental.

Wish you were here, comfortably numb etc, all magnificent.

I love Dark Side but I think Delicate Sound of Thunder is probably the best rendition of the music.

As Azell says, so many to choose from, but this gets my vote -mainly for it's awesome guitar rift and it's also a bit more raunchy than most of their other stuff <personaltaste>
