I don't know why you jump on me , I thought I pointed out was that I didnt like the armchair critic , that had nothing but ridicule for the board , Manager and fans . Obviously that doesn't include your good self . I happen to be old enough to have gone to Celtic games since the 60's but that is only a matter of fate. Hopefully I will be able to go for another few years but when I am no longer able to go I would like to think I would ease up in my opinions and allow the attending supporters air their views .
Much is made here of how many games someone goes to see in determining their credentials as a Celtic fan. I saw my first game in October 1974 v Hibs. Still got the programme. Since then I've had season tickets for many years but I've also had seasons where I saw few matches. Work and family often took me away. I've never had the pleasure of seeing Celtic away in Europe but I've followed them to most grounds in Scotland. My point is this: the seasons I didn't see so much of Celtic didn't make me less of a supporter, I'm the same guy. The number of games seen argument is, in my view, meaningless. Being a Celtic supporter is not about how many games you see, it is about the joy in your heart when Celtic win, the thrill of a great move or goal. Celtic is in the heart and the supporter can only be measured by the love they feel for the club. Which is something only they really know. Just as your bible tells you 'There are many rooms in my father's house' (John 14.2) there are many ways to enjoy our own earthly 'paradise'. It is not for me to say that the ex-pat fan, the bed-ridden, the poor or simply busy, is less of a fan than the guy who sees all the matches. They can all love Celtic in their own way. Here endeth the sermon.
Hi MagicThighs, Bit of bad news, but I'm afraid you're officially a Plastic Fan as per the 'SuperHooper Celtic Fan Level Guide', and you'd do well to acknowledge this. I'd also be wary about running your mouth because, as noted above, you're hardly in a position to dare suggesting how the club can improve their transfer policy or what the best 11 is Probably best you sit in your armchair, prioritise your time towards your family and leave the rabid, drooling real fans like SH to get on with being Super Fans.
I haven't read all of SH's opinions on Celtic fandom, so I can't really comment on that. Generally, my point was that you can only take this 'games attended' criteria so far. I was in London the season Celtic got to Seville. I watched the game v Liverpool away in a scouse infested pub in London. I was the only Celtic fan in the bar. I was pretty non-plastic, I can tell you. Did that make me less of a fan than in the previous season when I went to almost all of the games? Anyway, if you follow the logic, Celtic would be in the poor hoose. We have 60,000 seats at Parkhead. If you have to go to all the games to be a real fan then that means we can only have 60,000 fans. Celtic makes a lot of money from those who watch on Celtic TV and buy loads of merchandise. We actively try to extend our fanbase outside of Scotland to increase revenue. I wonder what Peter Lawell would say if you told him we could only have 60,000 'real' fans.
Living in Spain ? I visited Spain for a fortnight in 1970's , if that means I live in Spain I agree with you, rogue leader .
Magic thighs and Pud according to the greatest Director Celtic have had in the last fifty years , unless you were a season ticket holder or a share holder, your views didn't count . That man is the man who made Celtic Park the great place it is . I have never placed limitations as narrow as Fergus Mc Cann, however I think it would be a good idea for the armchair critics who live within 200 miles of Glasgow to attend a match in Celtic Park . You never know you might enjoy it and maybe return .
