obviously a good player because of the international recognition, don't know how much game time he will get though. Perfect scenario for me would be for us to get Luca Becchio on loan from the scum, he scores the goals to get us in the playoffs and promotion, while they struggle with their 13.5 million, 6 shots a season strike force and we take their place in PL. Could you imagine the hatred towards Whotun then!
Seen a video of him, looks like he likes to run at people, something which we lack, and I understand he has some pace about him, so welcome, and good luck
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ7RdtWZGic Definately has pace and likes to turn defenders inside out.
It does make you wonder about Jordan Adekunle and Jack Doherty... Obviously those two lads were brought in to be 'long term projects' and so weren't expected to be making the step up anytime this season.. I just hope this lad from Villa turns out to be worthwhile and he gets some game time and we utilise him properly (unlike Townsend) as it seems he could well be a very promising talent for the future
seems an interesting choice of signing. MM said only a few days ago that signings were unlikely as the likelihood was that both club and player would want assurances about playing before making the move. Its also not an area of the field that MM has previously shown any real interest in - our current wide men play very centrally. The youtube clips show promise but are so grainy that it could be anyone playing against anyone at anytime in the last 3 years! At present we dont use width in the middle of the field as an option so i wonder if he is going to an impact sub or if the idea is for him to play in front of Chambers as its pretty obvious that moving forward isnt one of Chambers assets. Its certainly not what I was expecting but lets see if/ how he features in the next busy 10 days before going ott one way or the other.
Micks view of the signing http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/24070/mccarthy-new-loanee-adds-something-different Sounds as though they have done their homework on him, could be used as an impact sub against tiring defences. IMWT!
Looks to be just what we need...........it seems like me MM has not given up on this season just yet.....
There's a reason we've been in this division for the longest Hoppers. I'm all for bringing in talent but it just masks the inadequacies in our squad. Begovic, Townsend, Colback - all top Premier League players who cut their teeth in our team. Are we stronger for any of them having been at Town? No way. We're stronger for having Cresswell, McGoldrick with us on a permanent basis and we're stronger for having players like Hunt in the side bringing something to the dressing room but these younger players don't give anything to the club, it's all one sided. If we were challenging for the play offs like toward the end of the 08-09 season when we had Gio - or someone as talented as him who can really change results for us - I'd be all for it but it's just another player taking a place in the side that our own kids could benefit from.
" It does make you wonder about Jordan Adekunle and Jack Doherty... " Well, firstly it now gives us the opportunity to send them out on loan, something Mick seems very happy about doing. The reserves so to speak have been horrific this season, so clearly they need to do more. Mick recently labelled Marriott and October as the two young players most likely to have any impression on the first team, so he cannot ( at this present moment in time ) be overly amused with either. Also, I would suggest this will give ( in theory at least ) Anderson the chance to revert to his favoured LM position to battle with Hunt, with this new lad fighting with Carlos for the right side. Also, Tabb may return back to his natural CM position. We haven't had a player with the ability to tear past a player with pace since Townsend on loan, so I'm more than happy with this signing. Have heard plenty of good things about him too, so we'll see how true they are. What on earth is going on at Ipswich anyway. - A manager who UNDERSTANDS how to use the loan market..... - A manager who offers players PAY AS YOU PLAY contracts instead of giving out stupid deals to the likes of Bullard and Chopra. An area of the team that needs working on potentially improved, good work Mick !
