http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...g-syndicate-as-rigging-hits-British-game.html Some interesting undercover reporting. Wonder when it will come to light who the six footballers are, and just how high profile they are? DTLW
Apparently does not involve any PL club....shame as I thought it might explain Boruc's behaviour on Saturday
One of the plus points of players receiving ridiculously high wages is that players are unlikely to be tempted by the fixers
That is my understanding too that it didn't involve football league clubs or the premier........Bloody good job too......Still just shows what the advent of the gambling world has brought to the game. Look at Italy, was it where the refs were bought off or some such. Look at the who ha when Grobblar was tried for match fixing......not sure the eventual verdict was correct but throw enough mud and some is almost bound to stick.....
Careful Fran. I know you won't have far to go for a prison but we don't want to have to visit you in one or to have to have a collection to help pay Artur's claim for damages.
Still struggle with this. You need a lot of players involved. Who is to say a keeper won't play a blinder or a ref not get a card out or refuse a blatant penalty.
Hope the police don't watch a re-run of the Arsenal Vs. Saints game, they'll be pulling Arthur in for a chat?
Reckon they need to look at Pompeys match with Southend on Tuesday. 1-0 up against ten men and still managed to lose. .
Not really. A lot of the betting will be on things like number of corners or time for first throw-in (remember the infamous LeTiss episode). Bribing one player to arrange these are much easier to control.
Well I have been watching the Swansea game and let's look at some interesting incidents. Player booked in the first few minutes (where have we heard that?). Ref keeps deflecting Swansea's passes to Valencia players. Perfectly good Swansea goal disallowed. Ref is an Italian and therefore just has to be dodgy. Hmmmm!
Of which nationality Pierluigi Collina is an example. Well researched factoid there StG. please log in to view this image
