Being reported in the BBC sport site that Juventus are showing interest in Tim Krul. It also suggests that should Newcastle lose him, we are interested in the young keeper from Reading.
Why on earth would we sell him, except for the 20 million supposed price tag.
If we cannot show ambition to strengthen and bring new players in, then please let us show enough ambition to keep those prize assets we currently have.
Another poster on the forum asked the question, if we show ambition, do you think Cabaye might want to stay? The answer has to be probably not. The Board lacks the kind of ambition that could convince any top class player that they could join or stay at Newcastle and achieve their ambitions to win things. We just don't project that kind of vibe.
That said, players have left us to better themselves and win things with bigger clubs, to become bit-part players, warming benches and fading away, Demba springs to mind and l am sure there are others.

Big fish, little pond and all that entails has never been so apt when it comes down to it.

The money received for Krul will be lost on loss of gate receipts if the fans start talking with their feet about losing our star players.

If we get £20m I'd like to see a better keeper than McCarthy come in.
It's like selling a rolls royce to buy a lada.

Be up to Tim I suspect. If they accept a bid, it would be down to him. Worse teams to play for than the Old Lady mind. Dificult one to turn down. His international ambitions would become a whole lot closer to being realised if he was playing CL every year.

I can't see anyone paying 20m for him. He is good but lets not forget he is far from the finished article. That would represent excellent business for the club. As a fan you wouldn't sell him but as a businessman, if that amount of money is on the table it'll be difficult to knock back.

Have to say I rate Alex McCarthy very very highly. I'd be pleased if he was the replacement. Obviously it would be preferable to keep Krul. However I can see it two ways as a possibility. If Pardew has been told to generate his own cash then he could get a big chunk in one go. Or if Mike wants some more of his money back, its a big chunk in one go. Not ideal but that is where we are as a club.

Make no mistake here, everyone has their price.

The best we can hope for is for the club to take the exact stance they are taking, which is to add a hefty price tag to our best players. You couldn't blame Krul for leaving and you couldn't really blame the club for accepting £20m. Our best players will leave at some point, but they will leave for good money and that's the way it goes unfortunately.

It's swings and roundabouts and it would be hypocrisy to expect him to stay, but in the same window poach Remy or Gomis for a knock-off price. Not even City or Chelsea are immune to losing players if Real want them.

Personally, I just can't see it happening, not at £20m anyway.

I can see Juventus offering £10m at most in January, with us telling them where to go and we will only accept £20m+ for him. There will be an impasse and much talking and blustering from the Italians.

As Krul has 3 1/2 years left on his contract, we would have the upper hand in any negotiations with any other club, but if we keep to the same hardline strategy as we did with Cabaye, Krul wouldn't be going anywhere, unless they met our valuation.

As for Krul, himself, if he wants to go the World Cup, he'll knuckle down and won't let the situation affect him, but, even if did want to leave, it would be difficult for him to force the issue due to the length of contract remaining.

If the valuation of £20m was met, no club would knock that money back for a keeper so we would take there hands off at that amount.

I think Alex McCarthy would be good replacement. If he was in the PL, He would more than likely be in the England squad pushing for the World Cup squad.

Krul is a very good keeper but his kicking is poor and he also likes the comfort of his line too much, so he does have weaknesses. It's just a fact that 20m for a keeper is silly money. I could be wrong but I think Neur went for 19m and he's in the top three keepers in the world.

You're spot on, Neuer went for £19m which is an exception to the rule. Other than De Gea at £17m, I don't think any other keepers fee has been in excess of £10m for the past 10 years or so. It just doesn't happen.

I'm sure that is about right for Neuer. For me he is the best in the world bar none. Seriously, I think we'd take 10m-15m for Krul. Look at Mignolet. Why would Juve do that anyway? They could get Julio Cesar for free who speaks fluent Italian.

Even Lloris only went for around 10m and he's got Champions League experience and is the French captain. Mignolet had the season of hsi life and he only cost Liverpool 9m. Anyone offering over 12m would be silly really but at the same time I doubt we'd sell for less than 15m-18m. So that, along with the fact Krul loves it here means he won't be going anytime soon IMO.

His missus is from here too and he has purpose built his own hoose! Not that he couldn't do that somewhere else. His missus might like Turin too I suppose.

Juve don't have the money for this. They had to sell Giacc to fund Tevez's transfer, so unless they plan offloading several players, or a key one (Pogba?), this will never happen. And if they did decide to splash out, they'd do it on an outfield player(s) where they would see a more real return on their investment

The team spirit is better than it's been for ages, breaking the team up at this stage of the season would be crazy.

I hope he stays... but just like Andy Carroll, if there is enough money offered, then there's no stopping it.

It may not only be Juventus interested!
