Are some of our referees just rubbish or are they "on the make??"Today's game at Stoke proved that the decision of Kevin Friend to send-off Wes Brown for a perfect tackle was so wrong. Both the pundits on Sky's coverage and the BBC's Match-of the Day's commentators could not believe that he was sent-off.This game could have great bearings on how Sunderland's season unfolds.Has Kevin Friend got a conscience??He must review this decision, and rescind his red card. However, that decision has cost us three points, which may or may not cost our club it's Premier league status. Is the guy useless, bent,or a referee who has his favourite clubs??My view is that he should NEVER referee another Premier League game!!

Trial by TV is a double edged sword for players and referees, doubtless Friend will come under scrutiny every game from now on. I normally have sympathy for referees because they have to make a snap judgement in real time but this ref needs closer study, he gave the Brown decision as he saw it but the keeper foul was a complete shattering of the rules regarding dangerous play, last line etc. Red card and penalty without doubt, but what about the linesman who would have been up with play. A flag from him would have cleared the way for Friend to take the necessary action. I have heard but do not know for sure that linesmen only decide on offsides which, if true, can be changed to the games advantage. A second point in question is the disingenuity of managers who fudge their interview answers by giving a nebulous analysis of the incident that has favoured them. There has been enough bleating for years from managers about inconsistencies in decisions but those two today are about rock bottom, and now you have managers making snide remarks about receiving letters of apology. Why can they not all band together and have an airing of their concerns with the referees association, or whatever it is called now. During the week I watched the Sweden v Portugal game where Howard Webb refereed and there was a 50/50 situation where two opposing players made heavy contact together the Portuguese player flung himself down but the Swede stayed on his feet. Webb was perfectly placed to see it and allowed play to carry on - much to Ronaldo's twisting disgust, had he been side on however who knows?
In my view he shouldn't even be allowed near a school pitch let alone premier league. The bloke is inane, inept, useless & **** at his job. Any **** else would be sacked. I mean, why pass such **** on to the poor ****ers lower down? Do they deserve him? No they don't! No one does. In all honesty, I'd love to boot the twat right in the bollocks if he has any.
I talk as a neutral and having just seen MOTD I have to say the sending off of Wes Brown yesterday was one of the most ridiculous decisions I have ever seen. QPR have been back on the back of a few over the years but yesterday that beats them all.
what you have seen is probably the last breath of our game go down the ****ter ,if any player who played for me or with me has made that tackle i would be patting him on the back. football is fukced again .....f.i.f.a
I fully expect a refs delegation to visit SAFC and try and soft soap over it all. I also fully expect to get a few soft decisions going our way over the next few weeks. Incompetent w*nkers.
It's all very well Friend being dropped down a division and Browns card rescinded. What abou Andre Marriner's inconsistencies, and all the other inconsistencies with other refs at other games where nothing gets done? This problem goes deeper than half a dozen bad referees, Their own governing body, PGMOL, is ignorant, corrupt and not fit to do the Job, it's headed by an ex referee for christ sake. They're supposed to be professional yet there's no accountability whatsoever. The PGMOL needs to be scraped and an entirely independent body must be formed in order to stop the corruption in officiating in our beautiful game.
We have had our issues with Friend at Norwich. He is incompetent.Which is a posh word for ****ing useless
Please don't suggest he drops down a division. We can do without refs making incompetent decisions like he did yesterday.
I have asked the FA that question, I have also asked, if the FA has something against Sunderland AFC, I am waiting for the reply!
His decisions against us can in no way, shape or form be put down to mistakes..This twat has always had it in for us, and he has stitched us up good and proper..He is a cheating bastard of that I am sure..
This is what I sent to the FA: Enquiry: Would it be possible for refereeing decisions to be seriously looked at, Kevin Friend officiated at the Stoke v Sunderland game, sent a player of for actually missing the opponent & getting the ball, then dismissed a challenge on Steven Fletcher by the Stoke goalkeeper, the goalkeeper went in studs high & in first & caught Fletcher in the chest. I along with others are starting to wonder what the FA has against Sunderland AFC & the possibility of referees being open to bribes from certain clubs, today a certain MUFC player (incidently an England player) enjoyed putting himself about against Cardiff City, but that was acceptable. So , please answer the question, are the referees on the take, or has the FA something against Sunderland AFC This is the reply: Thank you for your email. Whilst understanding your frustration as a football fan, every supporter will have an opinion on the game’s major talking points and we’re always interested to hear them. The Football Association receives frequent correspondence on individual refereeing decisions across all levels of football as well as on the performance of referees in general. It is important to understand that without a referee there is no game and as a result the long-term health of football relies on recruiting, retaining and developing referees. Whilst 100% consistency is impossible when human judgment is introduced into a situation, referees get the overwhelmingly majority of decisions right. In fact they are arguably the most consistent people in the game making split-second decisions that will be analysed repeatedly by slow motion cameras and panels of football experts. There is a system in place for monitoring the performance of referees and referee's assistants. This involves referees assessors and reports from club managers. All assessors come from a footballing background and the majority are fully qualified referees themselves. The performances of referees over a season are then taken into consideration when the leagues appoint their referees for the following season. The Select Group officiates in the Premier League and is the responsibility of Mike Riley, General Manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL). Premier League refereeing enquiries should be addressed to Mike Riley, The Premier League, 30 Gloucester Place, London W1U 8PL or via [email protected]. We do appreciate all of the feedback we receive from supporters. This feedback is collated and used to build a picture of public opinion and is subsequently fed back internally within the organisation. Please rest assured your comments will form part of this feedback process. Kind regards I sent another advising they have not answered my questions!
