I think it will after the appology given to clarke, a prescident has been set, i also expect him to be demoted. Its universally unanimous
I highly doubt it mate, infact I wouldn't be surprised if those lilly livered ****s at the ****ing FA dinnet give him an extra ban for having the temerity to appeal it. One thing I'm in no doubt of though. The pox ridden FA will stick up for that useless prick Friend.
Gus Poyet expects an apology from referees’ chief Mike Riley after Wes Brown’s unjust red card at Stoke. The Black Cats boss was furious after Brown was given his marching orders by blundering official Kevin Friend at the Britannia Stadium, leaving Sunderland to play more than half the match with 10 men. Brown was dismissed for serious foul play, despite replays proving that there was nothing wrong with his ball-winning challenge on Charlie Adam. The sending-off brings with it an automatic three-match ban, but Poyet hopes Riley will call him to apologise for Friend’s gaffe, and recommend that the card is rescinded and the suspension cancelled. Riley recently contacted West Brom manager Steve Clarke to say sorry after ref Andre Marriner wrongly awarded Chelsea an injury-time penalty that gave them an equaliser, and Poyet wants the same courtesy from the Professional Game Match Officials boss. “I’m not going to comment on the referee because I don’t want to get fined,” said Poyet, who arrived at his press conference holding his laptop in case anyone wanted to see the replays of the incident. “I’ve got every angle on the laptop. “Charlie (Adam) said he (Brown) caught his shinpad a little bit, but he kept running. He didn’t go down, he is not in the hospital. “It is hard to talk about referees because as managers we get fined. “I would like the referees’ association (the PGMO) to apologise to me this time. They did it last week [for West Brom]. “They called a British manager (Clarke) and now they can call a foreign manager. It’s fair – 1-1. “If the referee (Friend) says it is not a red card, then I don’t need to appeal and we will see Wes Brown play next week and we move forward. “We don’t have any issues and we don’t look back any more.” In reality, whether Riley calls or not, Sunderland will almost certainly appeal against the ban and the card will be rescinded. But if it is upheld, it would rule Brown out of the trip to Aston Villa next weekend and the back-to-back home games against Chelsea and Spurs at the start of December. While most observers backed Poyet’s view of the incident, Stoke boss Mark Hughes though the red card was correct. “I’m sure Gus is a little bit aggrieved about it,” said Hughes. “But my interpretation was that Wes was maybe a little bit out of control and reckless.” Brown’s dismissal was a turning point, but Poyet stopped short of saying it cost Sunderland the game. The Black Cats were already trailing to Charlie Adam’s goal on the half-hour, and Poyet accepts that no-one knows what might have happened had it remained an even contest. In the end, Steven N’Zonzi added a second goal for Stoke nine minutes from time. “It’s hard to say it cost us the game,” he said. “I don’t know. “Of course, it made it more difficult. “But that doesn’t necessarily mean that if it had been 11 v 11 we would have won.” There was another incident later in the game when Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic caught Steven Fletcher in the chest with a boot and Friend did not even award a foul, but Poyet was unwilling to make an issue of it. He said: “Begovic played the ball, his leg was a little bit high, but this is football. “We have to accept challenges, otherwise the game will change into something else entirely.
If Friend wasn't such a ****er, even after he sent Brown off. Had he given a penalty and sent off Begovic like he should have we would have got an equaliser, with plenty of time left to play with even numbers. But no. He sent Brown off for a ****ing ridiculous challenge and deemed Begovic's martial arts kick not even worthy of a foul. **** me. Can you imagine if Cattermole did that to anyone?!
I`m not sure. After last weeks fiasco the FA won`t want another official shown up to be crap even if he is. It would but nice if they would give a reason for the decision and also, why another player, off the ground, out of control, studs up is perfectly ok. It`s that baffling inconsistency which gets me.
**** in it when your player gets sent off for barely touching the guy! - please log in to view this image
Wasn't just the Ref who needs to be held accountable in that game imo. Look at where Friend is at the time of the kick, he must be 50 yards from the incident. I reckon that's the Assistants call and where is he? Answers on a postcard if you can spot him on these replays. Infact the only place off camera that he could have been would have been the perfect position. No foul, no booking. Shocking. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image On a side note, see Fletch lift his hands and start going to ground? He may have saved himself from a very nasty injury trying to halt his momentum there.
'A nasty injury' is polite way of saying decapitation. And to answer the question, I never was any good at Wheres Wally.
I cannot fathom how Begovic wasn't sent off and us given a pen. Having already given us a joke of a red card, he's basically saying Wes Brown's tackle was more dangerous than Begovic's kung-fu kick Had we got the pen and it been 10 v 10 there's every chance we could have won the game, at the very least draw. And that was after the shocking decision to send Wes off
It is very obvious now to most people that the Premier league is fixed but the question is why? Here in the north east every week Sunderland have a player sent off (wes brown for the best tackle of the season) cattermole for well virtually anything. However, up the road Check Tiote and cabaye can foul who they want and nothing happens to them. Why? Has anyone any theories why Sunderland are hated?
Totally agree, it's a game barely worth watching nowadays. I watched the rugby league semi final before the Sunderland game yesterday, absolutely brilliant, no quarter given, people really getting stuck in. How those guys must laugh at footballers and wonder why they get paid so much.
I agree Stu but why is there this vendetta? What the **** have Sunderland done to be on the wrong end of decisions week after week. I am at the stage where I am thinking they are called into a meeting at start of season and told to give as many decisions against Sunderland as possible and you are not allowed to give any fouls against cabaye or tiote.
