I love my team, I always have done and always will - whatever it's called it will always still be "my team". I love watching them in the premier league, or whatever league they play in! I will support them whatever! I sit in the East Stand right opposite where it says " home of the Tigers" no one around me stood and sang in support of the city til I die protest and most were very annoyed that the flag and banner were obstructing our view of the football being played. So please please back off I don't want our owners to walk away and leave us in the mess we have been in before whatever people think they are probably the best owners we have had and have brought in the best manager we have ever had- please don't annoy them too much or they will walk and what then -we will have no team! Please please just be careful and don't spoil everyone's enjoyment of our brilliant team and it's position. Thanks for listening to my first post.
You are on the wrong messageboard , try Amber Nectar or City Independant , this is the pro name change board
The bigger worry would be if they stayed and ran the club down, which would be the more sensible option for them financially.
People say it would still be 'their team' but how much would need to be changed for you to have a different opinion? If we relocated to somewhere like Leeds to make the club more profitable would you be in favour?
It can't be helping the team and everyone should be as one but Mr allam is determined the crowd equally so i can see this going on and on, im one for keeping our name ive been going over fourty years i still don't know why he is doing it but as i say it can't be helping Steve Bruce and the team
I also sit in the east stand right opposite where it says home of the tigers and lots of people around me were standing and singing in support of the CTWD song and got extremely angry when the stewards tried to remove the banner. After following City for nearly 50 years I've never seen such division in a club that requires unequivocal support, all from a flawed decision by a stubborn owner that thinks his business acumen is superior to anyone else's.
We owe something like £80 million to a man in his 70s. I know he cares passionately about our football club, even if I disagree with changing the name. That £80 million is his children's inheritance and his grandchildren's. Do they share the same passion for our club? If not they will at some stage want their inheritance. The only way to do that is to spend less than our income, so that the loans can be repaid. If we don't want a slow decline we have to find the money to stay in the Premier League and raise our eyes to Europe. Instead of looking East for the money in the hope that becoming Hull Tigers will unlock millions he should be working with people in Hull, including the council to build a lasting legacy of Premier League and European football in Hull.
I'm sure the guy makes his fair share of mistakes, but given the fact he's worth something in the range of £500m I think you are on a hiding to nothing questioning his business acumen.
If he is so against the council why did he allow the "bid" video and people from the council to be applauded today for their success in winning the City of Culture bid?
This is precisely my point. If changing the name "isn't going too far, they're still my team" then what IS going too far?
No no he hates it hates it i tell you. I hope now he ****s it off takes his money out of City and sails off into the sunset. Hope he gets back every penny he put in and leaves it.
Maybe because of the flak he got from the Capital of Culture quote on his Facebook page. Fingers crossed there is the beginnings of a thaw.
He obviously has business acumen, I'm not disputing it. I am saying he thinks he's better than other, equal and more successful businessmen in that his big idea has been missed by everyone else and he's onto a winner. The old adage of walk before you can run would be a good idea, starting off by finding a way to fill a 25000 seater stadium when a premier league football match is taking place. If he can't even do that it doesn't exactly enhance his business reputation.
