Today I E1 2 and 3 plenty of passion for the cause when the stewards tried to take away the banner.OLM and his mates must regard today as a triumph. I would suggest caution jumping to conclusions. If passion won wars Scargill and his mates would be in positions of power rather than perceived view that he manipulated his members to try and achieve his political ambitions. Amongst the uproar today there was a significant number near me(E2)who did not join in.We are amongst the hard core chanters(some from the 70s and 80s trouble makers). When the chant went up "we say no Allam we say no.....there were quite a few who were very possed off. There was little singing for the team after this. I do not think many of the organisers of CTWD are singers at the stadium so if we decide to jack in singing that will just about take the biscuit. We were rubbish today and were worse after the crowd flare up-coincidence? Do you think relegation will be worth it olm?
From the Daily Telegraph match report. "Most of the best entertainment involved fan protests against the proposed name change, with a large 'WE ARE HULL CITY' banner being paraded around the stands before stewards waged an unsuccessful tug-of-war with the ring leaders. When the message was once again unfurled, it was met with deafening approval from all four corners."
Pathetic post. Total bullshit. The atmosphere in that first 30 minutes today was better than it has been in years at the KC. The songs being sung were the same songs we sing to support the team. The players won't even know when it's name change based and when it isn't.
It didnt sound like 200 fans, I was in the North West corner and It got the full stadium singing City Til I Die. Allam cant hide that fact, 23,043 people witnessed it. What can he say about it only being the minority now??
I sit in the West at home games so no I don't usually sing apart from at away games. But I did in the first half today, like most of the ground.
We started were we left off against Sunderland. Our build up play was too slow, we didn't get players into the box early enough and we have only one striker who can finish and he was often on the wing. The name change is a distraction and yes its causing dissent. That dissent was stronger today because of his interviews. Telling City fans, many of whom have been through all 4 divisions, they can have their money back if they don't like it was insulting. We all know the consequences of a house divided, so is he going to step back and think about what he's doing or is he going to continue telling us to lump it because its his club and nobody tells him how to run his business? We have an owner who could have given us a special season. He could have appealed to the people of Hull to help build an established Premier League team. He could have even talked to the supporters groups about following Swansea's example and giving a stake to fans in Hull City. Instead he announces the day before Andy Dawson's testimonial that he's going to change the name after 109 years to Hull Tigers. There is only one person responsible for this mess and they weren't in the East Stand today.
Me and my misses sang in the South Stand (often on our own) for two seasons before moving to the North East corner. Yes, we sing.
You ****ing liar. The biggest noises today were all made in the name of City till we die. I doubt you even sit(should'nt you be standing ?) in E2. Liar !
Nice to see that following the support of almost everybody in the stadium the pro name-changers have now realised they are well and firmly in the minority and have had to resort to blaming a poor performance on the protesters. Do you think players realise what we are singing or why? Do you think they would give a **** if they did know? The only possible effects of singing more than normal are positive, and the only thing to distract players were the ridiculous stewards.
I am serious about some of the old school fans.I would not be liked to be held accountable if this brings a dramatic down turn in our fortunes.I am old enough to be philosophical but some are not.I would suggest the mods trawl through back posts and remove ones which identify a leading figure ie his name and his office location.I wish no harm to anyone and I do not want anyone else to do anything stupid. You will just have to take my word for it that some people were very angry and you may have noticed that when a few tried the "we say no " chant it did not get the following it had after the banner incident. If there is anyone on here who tried the chant again in E2 I think they will confirm that quite a few of the singers did not join in and were less than happy. If you want to take the glory today enjoy it and big it up.Scargill did.He was just out of his depth and out smarted by a politician I hated but was far shrewder than him. If you think I am exaggerating to suit my views that is fine by me. I hope this all fizzles out but I really would suggest people try and remain anonymous on here.
It'll come as no surprise, but the banner tug of war was an instruction "from upstairs" and not some jobsworth acting above his station. This is according to one of the main stewards I heard talking to someone. We got even more coverage and will surely be reported in match reports and columns etc. The only downside is that the defeat could give him the potential to spin some vitriol that the protests/campaign caused the defeat and that this wasn't due to the inability of our team today. I sit up in E6 so unfortunately the songs that I can join in on are few and far between but very much enjoyed the Allam chant and also the CITD song up to and including the 19:04 chant.
He was a vain conman, a Commie and is now disowned by the NUM after his free grace and favour flat fiasco. Lions led by a small dumb conceited donkey etc.
Try starting an Allam chant, proving whether you are in the majority? Maybe something like: Maximisation of profits till I die, Maximisation of profits till I die, I don't benefit, but Allam does, Maximisation of profits till I die. See if it picks up.
The remove that banner was a kneejerk instruction. Had the issuer thought about it for 5 seconds, he would have realised it was doomed to humiliating failure- and so it proved. The type of thing that happens in places like North Korea or Ceauscescu era Romania, where some despot can't handle contrasting views.
Where were these protesters against the owners (we will not spend a penny more on club products) when the last but one owner was bankrupting us and previous other owners who seemed determined to get us locked out of Boothferry Park etc. No we don't like progress. Thank God Phil Redmond didn't look at the backwards nature of the most of our fans when he and his panel awarded us the City of Culture. Remember at the end of the day the word CONSULATION - and as of yet even the FA probably haven't even come up with a full definition of that word. When one person on here has given as much back to the fans of this club by actually saving the club (if there had been a fans' ownership shareholding scheme - how many thousand would that have raised) then criticise the man
