Moving on........ I have no doubt we will see a very different side out on Saturday than we saw last night and probably a positive result too. We welcome back Harriman, Hewitt, Hollands & ***an & Kedwell if fit. We actually have a dilemma of who to play at right back for a change. Would love to see young Davies back in the side too but will be interesting to see if we go one up top again. I hope not as i think Kedwell and Cody need some time playing alongside each other. Hoping for NELSON HEWITT DAVIES BARRETT MARTIN ***AN MOUSINO HOLLANDS WHELPS CODY KEDWELL HOWARD DACK WESTON HESS LEGGE LEE HARRIMAN However if fit i can see it being just Kedwell up top. If Kedwell doesnt make it i would like to see ***an with Cody and then Harriman in front of Hewitt
Davies won't be playing and I can see him being shipped out either on loan or permanently. I don't think PT likes him,or he would surely have started against Brackley, and anyway when he did get a chance last week when Legge was out,I thought he was poor. His distribution was particularly bad, so I think Taylor will be bring in another centre half, especially as Legge had a poor game also against Brackley.
Nelson Hewitt Davies Legge Martin Whelpdale, ***an, Mousino, Lee Dack, Cody Won't happen but my choices
Push ***an out wide and drop Lee and Whelpdale for Weston and Gregory and we might be getting somewhere.
Sorry but ***an is a winger Whelpdale and Lee are certainly not, especially after the way they played Tuesday.
haha...you know that bit is fine...it's that other name you mentioned but I'm guessing you already realise that #badboy
The first of two home games in the space of four days. They had a great victory at Wolves in the FA Cup last night, and we got dumped out by Brackley. It will be a tough game as it usually is against Oldham. With Hewitt,Harriman,Hewitt, and ***an likely to be in the squad, hopefully we will be fresh and ready.Gregory looks to be out for a while, and Kedwell could miss the game on Saturday according to Taylor. Team? I would make quite a few changes to the side at Brackley.I would start Davies in place of Legge,as he played twice in 2-3 days and looked a bit dodgy on Monday.Hewitt to go to RB after he impressed at Sheffield Utd.Mousinho in DM in place of the injured Gregory.***an on the wing.If Kedwell is injured then Bayo to partner Cody.I know Taylor will probably not pick this Team, with a bit of depth in the Squad we can freshen the Team up for Stevenage. Nelson Hewitt,Davies,Barrett,Martin Mousinho ***an,Dack,Whelpdale Akinfenwa,McDonald Subs:Howard,Harriman,Legge,Hollands,Lee,Weston,German, If we could get atleast 4 points from Oldham and Stevenage that would be a pleasing total.
I wonder if PT will bring Harriman back into he team. If so,it could be like this: __________________________Nelson________________________________ Hewitt____________Legge_____________Barrett___________Martin_______ ________________________Moushino___________________________________ __________Harriman______Fagan________Hollands__________Dack________ _______________________McDonald_____________________________________ I think Whelps,Lee,Bayo,Weston and Davies on the bench, especially as Whelps and Lee have been non too impressive lately. Davies as I said earlier in the thread,I think is unlikely to start, and Weston to come on as an impact sub, which is what he seems best at. I think Keds will be left out as a precaution and will figure on Tuesday
Nelson Hewitt-Davis-Barrett-Martin ***an-Moushino-Hollands-Dack Bayo-Cody Thats what I'd go with and when you consider that doesn't include Whelps, Lee, Kedwell, Legge and Harriman it doesn't look too shabby! Felt Bayo was sensational against Brackley, I know he got stick but his hold up play and passing was top drawer, deserves a league start. Hewitt looked far too good for this league against United and similarly most of the squad keep their places because of that performance apart from Leon Legge who was atrocious against brackley. If we forget about the cup (both oldhams win and our loss) this looks a hugely winnable match.
I think Gillingham will line up as follows....................... --------------------------Nelson---------------------------------- Harriman--------Legge----------------Barrett----------------Martin ----------------Hollands--------------Mousinho-------------------- ***an---------------------Dack-----------------------------Whelpdale ------------------------McDonald-------------------------------------- Subs: Howard (GK), Hewitt, Davies, Lee, Weston, Akinfenwa, German Michael Harriman, Danny Hollands, Elliott Hewitt and Craig ***an all return to the first team as all four could not play against Brackley Town on Monday Night, Peter Taylor spoke in his Pre Match Press Conference today how he has many selection headache's to choose from and one of those selection headache's was playing Elliott Hewitt and Michael Harriman as right back and right winger respectively, but with Craig ***an playing so well down the right I like to think that ***an will start and we won't name two defenders as right back and right winger respectively. Danny Hollands and John Mousinho were both out-standing protecting the back four at Sheffield United and these two have to start in their same positions again tomorrow and Bradley Dack has to play in the number ten role behind Cody McDonald, I think Bradley Dack is a exciting prospect and Dack scored 27 goals for the youth team from this position so it makes sense to play him in the first team in the central attacking midfielder role. Myles Weston can only last forty five minutes for me and that is why I have named him among the subs and Weston is more effective when you bring him on when your chasing the game, last week at Sheffield United we brought him on the try and held out the lead and Weston was conceding free kicks and conceding throw on's and the defensive side of the game is not Weston's forte, but if you need to turn a loss into a draw or a draw into a win then they are the scenario's where Myles Weston is more effective. With Charlie Lee, Myles Weston, Elliott Hewitt and Adebayo Akinfenwa on the bench ( some of them may start) then we have got plenty of selection headache's and competition for places and I think this is what Martin Allen was trying to do and he either could not sign the players he wanted or those he brought in were not able to compete for a spot in the eighteen man squad ( like Tom Derry and Harry Grant for example). Four points from the next two home games would be the very least we are looking for, all six would be a fantastic return and IF that actually happens then Gillingham would have won five out of the last six matches in the league, hopefully that becomes reality by 10PM on Tuesday Night, but these are not easy games and I can see both sides doing what we did last week and try to frustrate the home crowd by keeping it 0 - 0 or taking a early lead, we seem to struggle when it comes to breaking the opposition down. Final point, I know Whelpdale is not a natural winger but if Dack starts he has to start in the number ten role with Whelpdale on the left, if Dack is named among the subs then I like to see Whelpdale playing off Cody McDonald in the number ten role then either Myles Weston or even Nathan Nyafli can play on the left wing. Here's hoping for six points from the next two home games, COME ON YOU GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
that was a terrible performance today. the whole midfield were awful. After the loss on Monday i was expecting much more. The new players have not improved the team. After today i fill like changing most of the team and play the youth team on Tuesday.
Absolutely awful performance yet again. To take 70 minutes to get our first, and I think only, shot on target against a poor Oldham side is very worrying. The only good aspect about the whole game was Kedwell putting their player into the advertising hoardings! I have still to see a worse team than us this season and can only predict a quick return to League 2
I only managed to listen to the second half, but I cant have missed much by reading the Tweets at half-time.It did sound really dull, and I don't remember a stand out chance for us.I read a lot of Tweets saying a "Lack of passion" Was that the case? I`m disappointed we did not get something from the game,as we should have been looking at 4-6 points from these two home games. We have tougher games coming soon,so we need to beat Stevenage on Tuesday. They will be full of confidence after beating Peterborough away today.I would like to see us go 4-3-3 and attack them, but I doubt Taylor will.
KFG, it was not a case of lack of passion far more a case a lack of attacking ability and intent, it was so poor today it was unbelievable, the central midfield partnership of Hollands and Mousinho would not have looked out of place on Hackney Marshes, not one decent pass played forward all game, no composure on the ball, no one prepared to play a defence splitting pass, no decent crosses or shots, chasing shadows all game. The Oldham keeper could have pulled up a sunlounger and read the paper for all the work we made him do. Unless things improve dramatically we are in big trouble. A huge improvement is needed for Tuesdays game because today was the first time I can ever remember that I would like to have had my money back, it was that bad.
We've gone from a not (really) a very good team in a poor L2 to a really poor team in a not (really) very good L1. Nothing ( other than relegation ) will change without a massive clear out. Realistically that wont happen (the clear-out) - it appears we do not have the finances ( nor appeal ) to attract decent players that are able to stave off the impending doom ! ( or at least players who are willing to try a little harder ) - if this carries on I am seriously considering not WASTING my time to go to away matches - I've got better things to do than waste ALL day on the tripe that was served up yesterday --- At the moment I'm too weak willed and will continue to go to home matches - but, who knows - in 2015/16 when we're in the Conference - will I bother ? Enjoy your Sunday everyone.
