Now then.. The Steve McLaren rejection by Aston Villa after apparently Randy Learner or another board member taking heed of a fans forum against his appointment sort of prompted this post.. Last month was my next doors neighbours 60th wedding anniversary and as a treat the family got them a table in the boxes at York races. On the table next to them was Niall Quinn and others and my neighbour, the sound nice guy he is, recognised him and went over and had a banter. In that banter he said to NQ and I quote, "I have a Sunderland fanatic next door to me, used to go a lot but lollie his partner hasn't been well at all and he spends his time looking after her and his little daughter Ella", to which NQ replied, 'You don't call him Joe do you'? My neighbour replied "Nae lad, you call him Steve (real name ). Anyway, the only way NQ could have assumed a guy called Joe, an Ella and crippled lass Lollie would have been either here or 606 of old. Wonder how much they do read and what difference it makes in decision making when they read it?
I can't see that they do, given some of the strange decisions we see. Be nice if they did though. OI! BRUCE!! Peter Crouch for Gyan? NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As it is now clear we all know nowt, they being superior beings they will just be laughing at our opinions.
I honestly believe that it would be plausable that Quinn does check out forums like this, as from what I have seen of him very perceptive to public mood and opinion. And if he did, I would also imagine just like the rest of us, would have been moved by your experiences.
They definately do. Its logic to look at what the fans are saying and thinking. It would honestly be stupid not too cause then they will just close themselves off to the people who pay thier wages, the fans. I am 100% certain that Walton/Quinn/Short or atleast one of them check the forums atleast once a week to see what the fans are talking about... It would seem stupid not too.
Never looked at it that way MrRAW but once again you show your considerate warmth. Must buy you a beer sometime mate & a cola for the boys..
Joe I was going to start a similar thread to this myself. I was wondering how much influence forums like this have on players? If Jordan had been reading this forum over the last half of last season what would he be thinking. I thinks its fair to say the majority of threads about him during this time were very critical of his performances. Put yourself in his position, how much criticism would you take before saying **** you lot I'm off?
Oh ****, I banned Big Chris, you dont think, no it couldnt be, could it? I would not be one bit surprised if our great leader, Mr Quinn reads this forum,(I am a season ticket holder Mr Quinn but would happly give it up if you invite me to a box Sir), he does seem the sort who would. I ust hope Bruce stays clear or we may have ****ed up his holidays. How are you and yours Joe?
Honestly?!? I think you're right on the money ...I'd go further and suggest (speculate?) we have amongst us someone significant person high up in the chain of command in our membership (and a very coy one too!), or at least a key person in the marketing team.
I think it's more likely that the club has a young keyboard monkey who sifts through all the ****e and picks out relevant bits or send the club a summary of the mood of the moment on forums. They would be dumb not to.
Damn! I've been found out Sorry guys, but I don't really live in Dorset. I'm shacked up in a crack house over Hendon
Well if they read them, and take any notice, i'm guessing that the N,gog deal will be put to bed, seeing as though he has been hung drawn and quartered, without even being a sunderland player.
