This is what worries me. he should have been playing for us by now and his contract is only till next summer. I can see him walking away next summer if McCarthy doesn't take it a bit more seriously. Yes we would be entitled to compensation but it would be a fraction of the fee he would command after a year in the first team.
Just for a change I'm going to have to disagree with you. At least he is ready to be coming off the bench.
I all for having youngsters on the bench.......but i think young Jack would benefit more from game time at a lower level.
Personally I'd be giving him some games for us before I sent him out on loan. He would learn a lot more about himself from stepping out half a dozen times in front of 20,000 people (cue Budgie infestation)
Without knowing him personally i can't say if he would respond better to building up to the first team or being thrown in at the deep end. I think he will be offered a new contract this side of christmas or maybe in January(to give the supporters something to talk about rather than moan that we have not signed anyone). I think that if he was ready and better than the older players at the moment he would be starting for us anyway...........i can't see any logical reason why MM would want hold him back...maybe he could be being over protective but i doubt that really. Hampy its fine if you disagree .......
MM has said recently (a month or so ago) that he played the same XI because NONE of his squad players were training well enough. If you ask me that sounds like the manager's problem rather than 10 individuals, so I don't have the confidence that Marriott is not getting a run in the side on merit alone.
2 games, 3 goals and at least 1 assist. Well done Jack, doing all you can! For me, he's best out on loan at present, however keep this up and he's going to require some game time for sure. Mick uses the international break as the PERFECT time to send a player out on loan, rightly so. Has done it with the others too, Taylor will surely get starts before much longer.
Be giving mick something to think about. Yeah it's only conference but it'll do his confidence world of good. Loaning to a league club would be a logical step.
