Well, I've had 2 redundancies in my career. One was done right and one was done wrong. Even the fact that I benefitted from both doesn't alter that fact. The second one could and should have been handled differently. Now I don't know what they could have done differently with Adkins but unless he had some prior discussions about it then it is impossible to deny that it was handled badly. Luckily it worked out well for us but that isn't the issue.
Thank's for that - I wish that was the case There are some decent young players at the mid-table clubs, West Ham, Fulham & Sunderland are top of the U21 league: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/barclays-u21-premier-league-tables.html?paramYouthStage=KNOCKOUT Sunderland have been investing heavily in young talent - 4 of our hyped up 14 signings during the summer were specifically bought for the development squad. I just hope we can give some of them the chance to play in the first team. Anyway - good luck against Arsenal, I think you can turn them over this weekend
I think LeTiss takes too much crap for stating his mind sometimes. It's obvious he loves Saints and has never stopped rooting for the club, despite whatever personal differences he might have with Cortese. He's not the only fan that was/is skeptical of Cortese, or thought that sacking Adkins was crazy. The problem is that Le Tissier is a public figure and a pundit, so what he says carries more weight. He may simply be reacting as a fan, but his words won't be interpreted that way. He should be more professional about it. But caring so much about Saints you lose some perspective is hardly the worst criticism one could level at a Saints icon. As for Adkins being sacked, in retrospect I've come to understand not only why the change was made (and it has more to do with NC really liking MP and thinking he was "the man" than with NA's performance, IMO) but also why it had to be done exactly that way. There was a choice to be made between what was best for the club and what was fair to Adkins. NC chose the former, and I respect that. But it still doesn't change the fact that Adkins was treated extremely badly.
I keep hearing this, but never heard any evidence to back it up. How, exactly, was his treatment worse than that of the sacking of any other football manager?
Problem with taking those leagues at face value is that Club A will have U16s playing at U21 level, Club B will have U18s playing at U21 level and Club C will have U21s playing at U21 level. Would take real stato to dig through all the actual squads to work things like this out. For example would be Saints be top if we had James Ward Prowse, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers & Paulo Gazzaniga playing in it? I'm pretty sure we have quite a lot of our youngsters playing in age groups that are older than them. They play at the level they are at. Aren't the U21 also the development squad that lets clubs use some overage players in it? Carlton Cole has even had 1 game for West Ham's. lol
I think it was the timing and swiftness of it as much as anything else He was sacked despite the fact that he'd had nothing but success and that it looked like we'd turned the corner in how we were playing. That doesn't make it a bad decision though just badly handled.
Don't get me started. I could write a book on redundancy. I can guarantee you that I've signed more redundancy letters than anyone on this forum. I would expect that I am in the Champions League spot in the entire country. I always did it 'right' though. Its not rocket science but it would turn this into the work's most boring thread
I once did redundancy letters for everyone including myself (250 people) when I worked as an accountant. mid nineties. engineering company taken over and then shut down. eye opening There was a father and son and I got theirs mixed up. lol One was jumping for joy, the other was after blood for his 30 year's service. Let you guess which was which. lol
250 - Conference stuff Of course the Adkins thing was a sacking not a redundancy so if someone could delete my threads!!!!! Thank you
Adkins should have been sacked in November, not January. Although saying that, MP would have had to compete with Adkins' good last two months and the goals started to dry up at the end of the season and that could have spread out longer under MP if he was appointed earlier and MP may have struggled to get us off to a good start working with the form we were in. Tricky.
Ramirez flying to Jordan, not really involved, celebrations, back to UK, on the fringes. The tougher side of top end footie.
