Thanks Stick. I certainly appreciate everything you put up on here. Winners are nice but losers are part of the sport. Certainly had my fair share on my own picks. Keep up the good work and enjoy reading yours and others insights. I have my view which I will share now that in my opinion Bobs Worth is the best horse in training and will show that tomorrow!! Good luck all.
Morning all, Some cracking racing today with quite a few i like the look of. 12.50 Revocation 16/1 3rd in decent novice hurdle at Aintree, should stay 3m. 1.00 Ascot Champagne West 4/1 Sent off 2nd favourite on debut in hot novice hurdle but was badly hampered by a loose horse and was tailed off. That looked a better race than this and is well worth another chance. 2.15 Ffos Las Hansupfordetroit 5/2 Was going by far the best last week before trying to dislodge one of the fences on the finishing straight and was only just denied when finishing like a train, must go close if avoiding any serious mistakes. 2.30 Haydock Shotgun Paddy 5/2 Jumped great giving a sound beating to the highly touted Just A Par and yard in fine form. 3.05 Haydock Rafafie 33/1 This race looks an absolute humdinger with strong cases to be made for most. I put Urban Hymn up the other week on debut and looks very talented but 6/4 looks way too short a price in a tougher race like this so have gone with Rafafie e/w. His bumper win has worked out well finishing ahead of Irish Cavalier (3 time winner), Rolling Maul (2 time winner) and Minellaforleisure (winner and 3rd in grade 2) so at a big price definitely worth a couple of quid! 3.40 Haydock Desoto County 11/4 Irish P2P winner now with Donald McCain. Good Luck all
Must confess that I’ve just been reading the final couple of pages of yesterday’s ‘daily thread’ and chuckling uncontrollably throughout. You couldn’t have scripted anything funnier and a BAFTA, at the very least, should be on it way. Thank you to all who contributed, especially those taking themselves way, way, way, way too seriously! Cor blimey...
3 for me today Purple Bay, Flying Eagle and Battle Born singles doubles and a treble! Happy punting!!!
I see Hugh Taylor's gone for Peachez and the price has collapsed. Glad I took your advice last night Chelsea old chap.
The Ascot Executive must be going bally berserk right now! The £50,000 Amlin Chase has got 3 runners and the £90,000 Ascot Hurdle 4!
Ridiculous outcome Barney but one we're all too familiar with especially here in Ireland where many of the 'big' pots go ahead contested by 3/4 horses. Could they make a rule where a quota of say 6 horses have to run for certain races to go ahead? I know there may be not be enough good horses sometimes to go up against another but even 3rd place would make it worthwhile sometimes.
Going to put my money where my mouth is for once. 2.30 Haydock. UP AND GO 3-1. Has beaten Many Clouds by 7 lengths earlier this year. Trainer doesn't fancy him today which is code for "I fancy him". Only a four runner race which is a risk but getting weight from all the others. WIN BET.
Well, according to the trainer himself he thinks he's going there with every chance "I've made no secret that I think a good deal of him and chasing was always destined to be his thing. He showed what he could do at Ascot last season and he's a horse with a great deal of ability. He's done plenty of schooling and he's been good at home - hopefully he can transfer that to the track. In an ideal world I would have started him off over 2 ½ miles but it's a small field for a valuable prize and he's getting weight off his rivals. He's notoriously difficult to get fit at home but I think he's pretty straight and he'll be going there with every chance."
Ach you know just humour like your posts of yesterday, away collect the toys and get them back in your pram!
Stick, any opinion on Lavelle's runner in the first at Ffos Las, looks a nice sort and was impressive in defeat lto but not sure if it'll have enough to trouble the favourite?
I'm with Bucks on Annacotty, will stick Stick's Flying Eagle in with Syabrite (1.00) and Double Ross (2.40) in a lucky 15 Fairly bullish about the chances of my L15 today, though they usually lose when I'm in this sort of mood.
Small 4 runner affair at Ffos Las and I think Armedanddangerous 10/3 in the 1:40 could be the one to be with if he is primed to go on his seasonal reappearance. Progressive type last season before being halted well and truly in his tracks when upped to a mark of 112, I'm not convinced it was the new mark that did him though and am willing to forgive that run and take a chance with him today where he runs from the same mark but I feel the break will have done him the world of good and he can progress some more this season. As usual , goodluck to all.
