Despite Jol saying a couple of weeks ago that he would happily give Steve Sidwell two more years, it appears that the powers that be disagree. "Steve Sidwell's talks over a new Fulham deal have stalled. The former Reading and Chelsea midfielder has started every Premier League game this season, scoring two goals. However, the 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the campaign and is yet to agree fresh terms. Sidwell recently rejected the club's offer of a 12-month extension and is holding out for a two-year deal instead, but negotiations have hit the skids." Source: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sidwell-talks-stall-midfielder-holds-6324836 I suspect the issue is as much to wages and the Club not being prepared to guarantee them for more than a year. Or to put it another way, not being prepared to take the risk of trying to offload him in 12 months time while he's still in the 'high earner' bracket.
Sadly Sidwell is not required, nobody can question his commitment. We have Boateng in the same place who can equally do the job. Does this have to do with Rene arriving?
